Hi,

I recently bought a set of 285/70R17 bfgoodrich all-terrrain tires for an LC200 (VDJ200 from 2008) with 17 inch steel rims ET 0.

The outside of the tires rub against the inner screen (don't know the English word for it) when the steering wheel is turned about half way in both directions.

Since the ET of the original rims for the car is ET 60, the ones bought for the tires above make the wheels stick out a lot more than the originals.

Would it be worth trying with other rims, or are these tires just too big? If so, any recommendations for (preferably steel) rims that would make the tires above fit on the car mentioned would be welcome.

Thanks in advance, Andreas

Toyota recommends the LT285/70R17 tires on the 17" TRD wheels which have an offset of 50 which "stick out" 10mm further than the stock wheels which have on offset of 60. There is absoultely no rubbing with this setup under any condition.

Your steel wheels have an offset of 0 which stick out 50mm further than the recommended 17" wheels - this is causing rubbing on your vehicle.

You really only have two choices without going into custom aftermarket suspension modifications:

- Use a smaller tire with your current wheels.

- Use a different wheel that has an offset of 50 with your current tires.

Sorry Andreas, I have no specific steel wheel recommendations for you except perhaps searching for some OEM 17" Toyota steel wheels (for the 70 Series LC's?) that would have a suitable offset for use with your LT285/70R17 tires.

Toyota has two part numbers for the 17" TRD "Rock Warrior" wheel - PTR45-34070 (older version) and PTR45-34120 (newer version). The only difference between the two versions is there are drain cuts milled into the inner surface of the "lock ring" on the newer version which are absent on the older version. Both versions will work on your LC200.

The Toyota doc for these wheels can be found here: https://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/ins...er TRD Alloy Wheel PTR45-34070-34120 IssF.pdf

It contains a lot of valuable info - hope you find it useful.

Oh you were too fast for my edit. Thank you again anyway though.

I will try and see if I find any suitable option to get a set of those to Sweden.

Kind regards, Andreas

I wonder if these would work: 17" INCH ADVANTI HAMMER WHEELS RIMS 17X8 5X150 LAND CRUISER JEEP AMAROK | eBay

They have an offset of 45 instead of 50, but are about 1/4th of the price and it seems the rock warriors (PTR45-34120) are hard to find.

Edit: Think I will try and settle for some of these instead: Toyota LandCruiser 100 / 200 series 5 spoke 17” - 5 stud alloys + 285/65R17 | eBay

At least they would be shipped from within EU, as I am in Sweden.

Thank you for all the advice above.

Best regards, Andreas

It is solved now. The tires mentioned above indeed fit without any rubbing on the right offset rims.

Thank you again for the input gaijin

Here is a picture of the result:

Ps. lost the login info for the "Andh" account, as for the last reply coming from another (but similar enough for recognition I hoped) alias.

No worries about that (from my side atleast) though.

So yeah, as stated above, big thanks again for the guidance in the right direction which finally led to the result in the pic above.

Kind regards,
Andreas
