Howdy,

Got a 2017 Sequoia Limited 4x4 with 100k. No rust!

Added Falken Rubitrek 275/65R20s today. Much better ride than the Michelin Defenders that were on it. No rubbing while driving on flat surfaces, but does rub some (mud guard i think?) when there is compression from braking turns and/or uphill turns.

Got an Eibach suspension kit that will lift it 1 to 1.5". Might make the change next week. If the new suspension doesnt solve the rubbing, I might cut some. My idea is that a suspension with 8 years and 100k could use a refresh.

Any questions or advice are welcome. I had a GX460 and loved it, but I'm digging the greater heft of the Sequoia quite a bit.

I’ve got a 2010 with 275/65r18 Duratrack’s, had no rubbing at all at stock. I did put a Dobinsons 1.75” IMS kit on it and love the ride. It smooths out rough roads quite well.

Take off Tundra's TRD Offroad 18" wheels wood be a good move before buying new tires. These wheels are cheap, too (compared to TRD PRO), but still sturdy enough.

Nice setup!

I aimed to go with the Dobinson's 1.75", but a price increase set in before I could commit.

The rubbing I am getting is the skid plate at full turn. Going to see if this changes with the Eibach kit. If not, I think a half inch off either side of the plate will solve the problem.

What tire pressure do you go with for daily driving?

Does a 275/65R20 work for the spare, too?

What's your plan for rock sliders? I kinda like it without, but I've got kids and some older folks who need the stock step for the time being.

RCI skid does not have this problem. Though it opens intermediate steering shaft to moisture and dust, I had to replace mine ~1.5 years ago due to seizing U-joint. Need to think on installing some sort of splash guard for the shaft.

Like a piece of neoprene? Rad Rubber makes good replacement engine guards, but they wont block moisture/dust from below. Any points to attach?

Was thinking more of like welding a pad to the RCI. I don't run crazy big tires with insane lift, have no rubbing problem to begin with.

For what it’s worth our 2008 limited is bone stock with 295/70r18s on factory 200 series wheels and it has absolutely zero rubbing.
I have a 1.5 front and 1 rear kit for it but probably will never install it.

Yeah that should be a .2" taller and .8-1.0" wider tire. Offical specs on the Rubitrek 275/65R20 are 10.6" w and 34.1" diameter. Tread depth is 18/32". Maybe that does it.

I think I’m going with RCI rock sliders, i already have all their skids. Also doing new tires soon on 18” Tundra steelies.

Looks great, you should be able to just trim the ears of the skid plate about an inch back and fully clear.
