Hey Guys....newbie here....nice to meet you all.
Have a 2016 200 and had a tire question for all of you pros.

Currently running 305 60 18’s on trd wheels and have no rubbing, but its close.
They are getting a little long in the tooth, and will be needing new rubber soon.
Works fine as is, but sometimes just like to change stuff up to try new stuff....you know how it is.

Planning to go to the ridge grappler but am struggling with size.
Would you stick with the current size or would you go to a 295 70 18?
The 295 will be 2” taller and 1/2” narrower.

Thanks in advance and looking forward to your feedback.

Thanks for the feedback MCGASKINS.
Did you end up putting the 285 70’s on yours?
Would you mind posting pics?

That looks great.
Thanks for sharing

I've had no experience with those tires and don't know how you use your LC, so I can't help with that.

But, I see a front receiver on your LC. Did you weld/bolt that up custom or buy it "off the shelf" somewhere?

@Sandroad - yes its a bolt on receiver made but Curt Mfg.
Originally made for tundra/sequoia, but same frame bolt width and fit like a champ with zero mods.
Do a search on web and you can find them for around $100 at homedepot.com.

Thanks. I see Curt (and others) make different sizes for different year Tundras. I'll see what I can find out and run a MUD search too.

Right.
It bolts directly to the tow hook mounts, so just make sure the distance between the bolts line up and you should be good to go.

Great looking Cruiser! A few questions as I’m considering the 305 as well:

How is the 305 at daily road manners?
Any reason for the change in size?
What lift/mods in place for that size?
I’m keeping stock wheels...I wonder if the offset is the same as the TRD wheels?

I’m about to have a Tough Dog (2” front/1” rear) kit installed and was gonna go with a 285/65-18 but just afraid it’s gonna look too small. Wanting a slightly larger tire without compromising the ride.

Yes I did. Do a quick search on my name and that tire size and you'll see lots of pics in a few threads.

Wow, look at the stance on that Cruiser!...on stock wheels which is exactly the look I’m after.

How do you like the 285/70 vs the 305’s? What mods to make it work? Any regrets or “do it different next time”?

@JayTortugaTee , GREAT looking truck with that 305/60/18 tire. I had that same size on my LX470 100-series and enjoyed it as well.

As I can see you appreciate the beefier things in life, I'd encourage you to try a 305/65/18 tire. @alta has just gone to that size recently. If you want to use your same wheel, you'll likely want a 1" spacer to make this or the other size you're looking at work.

Need help choosing suspension setup

A 295/70/18 would be awesome too if you're ready to take more extreme fitment measures.

@orangehat - the 305 has been great. Rides really well and makes the lc feel like a sports sedan. Interested in changing to gain some clearance/height. Right now i have 2” front lift via fox coil overs and 1.5”ish in the rear. Also running 1: spacers on all 4 wheels. To make this size fit just needed to remove the flats (front & rear) around the tire. Other than that, there was only a slight amount of rubbing when the wheel is turned to either extreme. I think the TRD wheels are the same offset as the stock LC wheels, so you will just need to add spacers.

@TeCKis300 - haha, gotta have some beef. Just looked up the 305 65 and its less than 1/4” taller than the 60, so could definitely go that route. Thanks for pointing it out.

Thanks Guys

If I'm not mistaken, a 305/60/18 is ~32.4" vs 305/65/18 is ~33.61".

So a healthy 1.2" taller tire, or .6" lift.

Ah your right good catch.
I was just reading the decimal.
Will have to take a look and see if i can stuff that in there.

You can. You already have the key to running it - 1" spacer. Otherwise, it's just a little tuck here and there of the plastic liner.

305/65/18s on +20mm Success!!!

I am really liking the looks of the 305/60s you have on there now. Those really fill out the wheel wells nice, and gives it cool stance especially with the stock wheels with Toyota's extreme offset . That about as nice of a stock wheel setup, that I have ever seen.

How do those Nitto' s ride compared to your old factory tires. That is the tire size I was thinking about for my Silverado. It is hard to get up into those 305s without getting forced into load range E 10 ply tires. That exact Nitto your running now is about the only one I know of on the market that is not a load range E 10 ply. Overall do you like the Nitto's ?

@cc1999 - thanks for the words.

The 305/60s ride great, but I do like a firmer ride.
Which is why I also run them at 50 psi.
This set up really handles well on the road and especially mountain roads.

Not really sure how they compare to the stock tires as they were only on the truck for the ride home from the dealership! ;)

Re the 10 ply if I go with the 65 - I would imagine it would be a firmer ride than the 60’s I have now.
So may just need to run less pressure to compensate for it.
