tire size advice

Yesterday i was reading a very entertaining thread (mostly with schotts vs everyone else) about tire size, fitment in the wheel well, and rubbing. I couldn't seem to put the answer to my question together. When someone goes to a 35" tire, what are the concerns about? So far, i've figured out they are:

1. Fitment into the wheel well/clearance with the fender on compression of the suspension (lest you desire the ripped of fender look)
2. Rubbing with the wheel well liner
3. Rubbing on part of the metal in the wheel well (can fix by bending in as per spresso)

Is there anything else that is of concern? I will not be going up to a 35 therefore i really could care less about what to do to accomodate a 35 (ie. body lift, spacers, etc.) I am asking for my own personal understanding of the issue. I'm someone who like to know about the "why".

I think you hit the big points. Only other I'd add is

4. Performance/efficiency loss with stock gearing and big tires.

35's will make a truck slower and less efficient. Regearing restores some of that back, but not all.

Also LOL at the Schotts vs. the world!, John.

I would have gotten, duratracs or BFG A/T, but in 18 inch they only come in the much heavier E load, which I don't want due to rougher ride and reduced gas mileage, the grabbers are back ordered at tirerack 6-8 weeks

I seriously doubt you would notice the difference with th E range BFGs.

I have duratracs e load rated 275/70/18s. Fuel economy didn't change much once I convert for tire size change. Not even 0.5mpg difference if anything and ask my wife, I track this religiously. Ride is not harsher at all (the lx ahc suspension soaks up the bumps like a dream - its still a buttery soft ride), and actually it has a bit crisper turn-in due to stiffer sidewalls (not to be confused with a harsher ride). I run at min recommended pressure which is 40psi.

I am considering this tire as well, same size. Would you be able to post up a picture of it from the side of the truck and from the front or rear looking down the side of the truck? Can't decide if I want the 275 or the 295

Sure, I'll try to post something tomorrow as it's really dark right now and my flash isn't that great on my camera phone :)
