Tower of murder baby.
so, yesterday I was going to head down to watch steven grind for a bit, point and laugh a little, maybe drink some of his beer... and my annoying vibration turned into a freakish shuddering door slamming shake.

needless to say, I made a couple stops in duncan then limped home on backroads. pretty sure I have a delam happening...

So I'm now officially pissed off enough at tires to buy some new ones, 33x10.5x15 is what I'm after. They'll fit on my old school steelies with the hubcap clips, which are narrow little buggers, only 5.5".

Checked the tire shop around the corner from my house, and prices were,

about 300per for toyo open country mt's
260per for bfg mt's.

so total is around 1200 for the bfg's and would be between 13 and 1400 for the toyos. don't know which I'll get, you always hear good things about toyos, so if it's worth the extra couple hundred i don't mind, I'll read up on them a little first tho.

Chet has a set of 33x10.5 radial swampers for sale, but I don't think I want to do the swamper thing again. My last set shook worse than these freakin mtr's...

Anyways, point of this post is, anyone have any recommendations for tire shops? Probably going to do something next week, if they're all around the same price I'll just deal with the guys who are close.

Haven't talked to Harold yet, he's usually pretty good, so I'll make a stop there before I buy for sure.

Haven't yet, but they definately were on my list of places to check.

reading up on the two tires, sounds like more people prefer the km2's over the toyos. apparently the toyos are super loud for what they are...not to mention heavier and more $$

Yup cedar tire is the way to go! I checked prices at the place your talking about and saved about $60 a tire on my swampers at cedar tire.

yeah, called him, he was cheaper on the bfg's, 246.50per...

BUT, he says bfg has run out of the damn things, and arent making any more at the moment, so he's going to call around looking but it may be months before he gets any...

not quite the same deal with the toyo's, but he can get two and the other two are in freakin toronto...

we'll see what he can dig up, but this is an added pain in the ass I hadn't expected...

bored at work so I've been phoning tire shops.

cedar can't get the bfg's, and would have to special order the toyos ( shipping $$)

local place by my house says the bfg's are backordered for 2 months

Big O in duncan has both in stock, but their price blows compared to the other two. 1350 for the bfg's, as opposed to 1195...and even with the extra 100 bux on shipping for the special ordered toyos from cedar, they're still cheaper than big O. ( 330 each, instead of 297)

May have to stop in and see harold in person tho, usually he's a better deal than that.

Was up Duncan way today and stopped in at a tire shop called Tire Exchange 1328 Fisher rd. in Cobble Hill. They had thousands of used tires and some new.He sounded like he was willing to wheel and deal on new and used. phone -250-743-6743

I happened to check at the tire shop at the bottom of the Colwood strip today...
Mounted, balanced, and installed... 33x10.50 BFG ATs.....

$1056 after tax. Can have them in two days from Van.

:D

TOYOs were quite a bit more... $300+ per tire or something like that. He said the last longer than the BFGs... But not that much longer.

have you checked the mainland at all... might be cheaper... i bought my Q78s for $1000 and that included shipping...

well, that's the winner so far.

what's that place called for those of us who don't know what a colwood stip is....?

crap just noticed you said at's....rats. they probably can't get mt's just like everyone else, unless they have some in storage already...still, worth a call.

havent called the mainland, seems to be more of an availability thing right now, price is all within 200. which is getting to the point of not being worth a mainland trip

brand new 33 inch tires mounted on rims Esquimalt & View Royal, Victoria

Says brand new MTRs on these rims.

I want the rims but he won't even reply.

If you got him down, I'd buy the rims off you for an appropriate price, as long as the backspacing is okay.

yeesh, you'd think the guy would be a smidge more informative if he's trying to get that much for tires...

tires alone wouldn't do me much good, they're a 16" rim, and no mention of width...

didn't think it'd be such a hassle finding 33x10.5's, may have to think about finding some 16" rims and go with 255's again.

yo tater If you want to go for a ride in my cruiser with the swampers on let me know. They ride pretty damn smooth up till 110 then I run out of RPM and courage!

I'd go for the Toyos... and I did. Twice.

BFGs I have not had much success with once they get a little use on them. They are not as tough as the Toyos, and are noisier to boot.

Talk to the boys around the corner from your house again... and make sure you're talking to Tim or Justin, not the interference at the front desk.

I wouldn't mind you know, I'm pretty damn tempted to buy those things off ya...wouldn't have to worry about going over 110, haven't done that in years (wife complains I drive like a grampa...)

it's just the smell of rubber burning away as you drive in the summer that's my issue...

as you can imagine, I'm a touch short on free time till after the weekend, pretty much tonight, and thursday night is it till tuesday or so. maybe pm me your number?

and John, backordered up the wazoo was the word from the guys near me, specially the bfg's. but the others a bit too. cedar tire guy called everyone he knew, couldn't get any.

I'd love to get that setup the one guy has on his 80, looks like the factory toyota 16's with coopers.

but won't be driving it till next week, so I'll get on this then...( unless chet sweet talks me into his swampers....)

You won't smell it over the stinky diesel exhaust...

how about out of the states shipped sea wings or victoria clipper. lots of places down there may have stock. 4 wheel parts in tacoma would retail for 750 for a set. and if you ship to the clipper it would be 813 for the bfg km2 33x10.5x15
