I'v recently purchased an 06 100 series and I have latitudes 275/60-18 currently and need new tires. I would like to have the Michelin A/T 2 but it's not available in the stock size. I don't won't hurt MPG and Power so I though about downsizing instead of upsizing to a P265/60-18 which is half inch smaller in diameter and narrower noticeably side by side. Does anyone have any experience with doing this? any suggestions? Thanks!

Here's our truck with 265's. they are great tires...but definitely roadies:

Those look good, I like the color of your cruiser too. Yeah I wished there were better tires availiable for the 18" rims. The only other option for the stock size is a Geolander A/T, but I really prefer Michelins. Thanks for the pic

I am running 275/65 R18, LTX M/S 2's which are a tiny bit bigger than stock, I can't tell any difference in MPG's and my speedometer is off maybe one to two MPH's at 80. I went up to this size tire because the tires are rated to last 75K miles, they are awesome and will be my tire of choice as long as I have a Land Cruiser.

Or get some 16" wheels... :meh:

Thanks Srkpaco, maybe I just need to upsize to get the Michelin M/S then. That helps a lot that you haven't notice any differences in that size. That LTX M/S is a great tire, I may just go with that instead of the A/T. I've had the A/T before and while it might look and ride great the aggressive tread doesn't really do whole lot they slick up pretty fast in the woods(muddy sometimes) where I go. I think maybe M/S might be the answer due to the less aggressive thread and better MPG than an A/T and be just as good for my mild off roading.

The Michelin LTX AT2 is available in 275-65-18 and is about 1" taller than stock which adds about 0.5" to the ride height. I had that size for a long time and it rides great.

Really, Did you feel or see any difference in the power or gas milage? The A/T2 is what I had in mind originally. I just need a little more thread when getting on some family property sometimes.

I've been running the Michelin AT/2 in 275/65-18 for about 40,000 miles and I'm happy with both the power and the mpg. Speedo reads low by about 1.5 mph. They are the P metric, not the E. The E rated version weighs more. Do some searches on this forum too; you'll find more than you care to read on tires in this size.

My 275/65/18 are e rated. I dropped in power AND mileage. But... Same tire. Same size. Was available in a P instead of LT. In retrospect, the passenger A/T might've served me better. It weighed almost 10 lbs less per corner in the P variety.

Maybe, I'm splitting hairs here but I didn't mention I do have the AHC suspension and I'm guessing that going to a p275/65-18 will clear in low setting? And that nobody really suggest going to a p265/65-18 A/T. I wished the michelin man made the stock size and this would be easy. I'm scared of the Yokohama's(they have the 275/60-18), price is great but then that make me Leary too

I have the Yokohama Geolanders AT/S tires and they are awesome! They are very quiet and do great in the snow and rain. I also love the way they look. I wouldn't hesitate getting them. I don't know how they can sell them that cheap. They've been a great tire. No complaints in 25,000 miles.

Hey Thundercloud,

I think the smaller size would look funny on the truck. Unless you migrate away from stock size you'll have to stick with the Latitudes.

I put on the LTX MS2 in 275/65/18, it's a 32". I love the look and haven't noticed any difference from stock. If you wanted even closer to stock size you could get 265/65/18 which would be 31.6" just a smidge taller, but slightly thinner. I don't think you'd have any problems with either.

I believe both the MS2 and AT2 are available in those sizes.

Yeah, Your right it probably would look funny. 275/65 it is. Probably the M/S, Thanks

Keep in mind smaller tires will help in the city MPG's, however they will hurt the highway MPG's as the revs will be higher.

Very good point. Basically it a choice between best city or hwy MPG. See the pic below. This is a 265/70-17 left and a 265/60-18 on right. I checked these out for comparison sake today and I was surprised to see that a 265/70-17 looked much narrower than and not the same width as the 265/60-18. The 265/60-18 looked much wider. Same tire too A/T 2 side by side, but the tread pattern is a little different than the 17". So what I thought would be a more narrow looking tire than the stock actually looks just as wide or wider ? It is a 30.5 in height compared to the stock size if 31. Interesting. I thought all 265 would be same width. But I guess not
