My first GX and I recently purchased 275/70/17 KO2 BFG from Discount Tire. After they installed them I had extreme vibration in the steering wheel and pedals. At its worse between 55-65mph. Brought them back for rebalance and it’s still there. In for a second try at rebalance and one rep said they may have to offer another type of tire that the Lexus is too sensitive…. I pushed back. After further investigation the Store Manager said 3 out of the 4 tires aren’t playing nice so they are going to replace.

my question is how much, if any, steering vibration do you notice with an AT tire on a GX? Assuming they are good tires and properly balanced. On mine you could see my hands shake on the wheel and my wife complained sitting on the passenger side.
Thanks !!

Thanks for the info! I confirmed they are doing the "Road Force" balancer and they claim the 3 tires had excessive differences between high and low spots on the tires. They are replacing with new so if it is still an isssue after that I will go down the Haweka adapter rabbit hole.

I had this same issue with K0'2 and a fj cruiser. They are very hard to balance and your not alone. Force balance finally solved my issue. BFG tires take a lot of weigh to balance.

Hogwash that GX's are TOO sensitive!!
I've been running LT285/75R17 BFG M/T KM2 for over 3 years and 50,000 miles, never an issues other than a slow leak puncture I did about a year ago. And that is a far more aggressive tire than what they put on your rig!
I've been running BFG's, either A/T's or M/T's for decades and never had a bad tire. I truly find it hard to believe that 3 tires were bad out of 4. I'd say their balance machine is out of calibration and needs to be serviced or replaced.

Do a google search. You'll find many forums with multiple threads on K02 balance issues. I run KM3 and no issue but every BFG I have owned has taken a lot of weights to balance.

Unless you really like the KO2 I'd recommend considering a Falken Wildpeak AT3 instead. Mine are buttery-smooth even 10k after the initial balance, reasonably quiet on the highway, and perform great off-road when aired-down (but poorly if you try to wheel them at 32 psi). They are also cheaper than the KO2, mainly because you can get them in 4-ply instead of 10-ply (these also ride nice and flex nicely around rocks for grip - and have not been damaged thus far even off-roading on rocky trails). The KO2 is a tougher tire and better in mud/snow but not the best for a lot of street driving IMO. I've had friends with larger KO2s resort to using bags to keep them balanced.

Thanks everyone! I agree it was weird that 3 out of 4 were out of "compliance" but they did put three new on and road force balanced. Now no issues. Rides smooth. A freind said he puts "beads" in his to get the balance dialed in.

So far so good. I will update if anything changes. Once again thank you for all your responses. Great forum
