Anyone in town have time sert kit? Looking for m18x1.5 for oil pan.

Thanks,

So, would you have access to the kit? The inserts are only $3. The kit (tap, tool, insert tool) is $250.

Dang son that's a lot of cheese. I think I'd just plug the existing hole with bubble gum and use a lag bolt with an o-ring around the base for my drain.../stainless of course. ;)

In all seriousness, I evacuate oil out of the drain tube on most of my vehicles so long as there is no windage tray blocking the lowest part of the sump (read Audi). Do you really need a drain plug on the Toyo engine to get it all out? Weld it up and suck it out.

Yeah, my cheap answer is to FIPG the old plug and suck it out next time.

next in line of $$$ is to buy a 20mm tap and drill bit and upsize -- $50

and at the top of the bank damaging order is the time sert kit at $220 -- unless I can find someone with the tool and then I am only at $3 fix.

Let me see if Thomas can get his hands on one...no guarantees though...he leans a lot on his shops tools...texting him now

I assume that you checked with Rodney too?

Thomas doesn't have one. Are our drain plugs really that big? He thought it was a m8x1.5. He shot me a picture of an m18 die and its larger than a quarter...

Nevermind...think he was thinking oil pan bolt, not drain bolt...carry on.

He did mention you could get an oversized self tapping drain bolt.

I found oversize for every size up to 14mm.

Yes on Rodney and on Jobe.

Come on..... There were millions of these sold in the world, and I am the only person that needs an oversize drain plug for a Toyota.....

Why am I the only one that has to joust the smurfs on unicorns?

Would this work?

Sears.com

Trying searching with these terms (copy and paste). Bunch of results for that same kit above from multiple sellers:

AHHHH>

There they are again.

Darn, I thought you found it....

Enlargens hole to m18 x 1.5. Well, I have a m18 x 1.5. I need a m19 or m20.

Application:
  • Every hole with the size of M17 x 1.5P
  • Hino, Volvo, and Dodge trucks.
  • Transmission drain plug of Dodge, GMC, Toyota and Nissan.
  • Oxygen sensors.

ok, this rabbit hole led me to this kit.

Likely harbor freight quality taps, but on aluminum, may be fine.

Tools Oil Drain Plug Sump Bolt Thread Repair Kit 24pc Set M13 - M20 Tap P373155

AND why the heck are there all these kits to replace 19mm drain plugs with 20mm? A quick search on ebay of 19mm drain plug leads you to about 2 plugs (most are 19mm head sockets).

So, they have kits to work on the darn smurf mobile, but nothing for the 40 million Toyotas out there?
