Time for new gears & lockers....

yeah, where I found that picture, they mentioned running part of it inside 3/8" fuel line or something to protect it.

I'll probably do the same....but mostly because that blue is just weird lookin....

Altho....it might match the new springs.

Something to consider. see the blue air line. I sleeved almost the entire length of my air line inside 1/4" fuel line. ....

I'm using braided steel hose for my rear ARB, bought it several years ago, ready-to-use (fittings and all) from some company in Colorado.

Before that, the blue line had given me several years of trouble-free service. I switched to the braided hose when my then-new headers started to melt the plastic line (but that's Chevy stuff... ).

The way I look at it, if you're tearing off stuff that goes in the top of the diff, you may have bigger problems...

Saturday I will be plumbing lockers, installing the air compressor, and wiring the lockers if you want to spend the gas money to watch/help.

This is what I mean......once these guys are installed...the nipple is there, but no hose connected...

Obviously I would not have air to lock the diff, so they would be unlocked...

But would I have fluid squirting out or something or could that just be left open, maybe wrap some tape around it to keep it clean?

I think I can get both diffs out and to ZUK one day...probably install them the next day (unless somehow this is done so fast I can remove and install same day)...

Doesn't really look like you got an answer to your question... but... yes you can install it and drive with nothing connected up for awhile. Just cap the fittings to keep out dirt.

I did just what you're talking about and drove for a couple weeks until I had time to install the compressor and plumb everything.

Hey Cody, what is Zuk's turnaround time on getting your gears back to you once you drop them off to him? Just wondering if he is backed up or not.

Ordered my 5.29s and the ARB lockers and big compressor and all the install stuff from JT Parts & Accessories (RingPinion.biz)....

Zuk says if we get it all in by Saturday and bring him the 3rds they'll be done that day.

Nope...but I'm going ARB instead of the E-locker route.

Bigger axle time comes after I wear these XMLs out and then I go crazy with the 46" versions...

These new gears and lockers should tide me over at least til then.

Cody, I live in Tempe but work in PV at least once a week, sometimes twice. I'd be willing to help you shuttle parts back and forth from PV down to the valley. Let me know....

Thanks, but I had everything shipped directly to Zuk's shop.

Just got off the phone with him, he has it all there now.

Brittan...I'm going to PM you my cell #, call me up so we can figure out how and when to get together to pull the 3rds...

Success!

It wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it would be to get my 3rds out...

The birf grease was nice and greasy thick - no soup mix.

Barely any shavings on the drainplug magnets...

Tomorrow I drop off the 3rds at ZUK's shop, spend the day shopping for more crap I don't need, and when I'm done I'll have some purdy new 5.29s and ARB lockers to toss back in the truck.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeee

Because thats what keeps the girlfriend letting me buy all my toys.

1 - $200 purse for her = $10,000 worth of shopping for me.

Yay!
