I figure I might as well tackle this project now.

So far the plan is for 5.29s and ARB air lockers F/R.

I just started browsing and checked 4WheelParts...and it said there were 2 different axles.....but had nothing for the front, but under the rear section it shows a gearing kit for the front and rear as a combo set...

I couldn't even tell what ratios they had available or if it was just stock replacements.

So...I guess I'm looking for some correct part numbers for confirmation, or a heads up as to recommended places for purchase / install or both?

Talk to ZUK, he'll point you in the right direction for what you want to do with your rig. PM me and I'll send you his info. He does really great work!

I am working with Zuk on issues I am having. If you choose to go local I suggest Zuk. You could also ship the 3rd members to Kurt and have him do the install. I purchased from Kurt and would do it again.

If you go with 4wheelsParts, try to avoid Genuine Gears. They are known easy to break in the mini truck world. They have lifetime warranty on those gears though.

I was hoping to find somewhere that would have the parts and be able to pull the 3rds, install the toys, throw the 3rds back in and tell me to come pick it up...

I'm playing email tag with ZUK now, but it looks like I might have to pull the 3rds myself and bring them down to him...but I'll try more persuading.

I'd hate to have some super awesome work done on the 3rds just to be screwed up by me tightening something wrong at reinstall time.

K, ZUK says he can do all the work, but I have to source the parts and bring him my 3rds and the parts....

He recommended ringpinion.biz for the parts...I think I remember them being a forum vendor here.

What about 4WheelParts?

Do they do locker/gears installs on the vehicles?

Check with shottsUZJ100. I believe he had the same work done on his LX450 at some 4x4 shop in Phoenix.

4 Wheel Parts on 7th street and I-17

They might have a free compressor offer going. Ask!

Also, they learned on my 450 that they needed a larger bearing that did not come with the regular install kit. 54, 58mm...something like that.

Their Mesa shop did my 100 years ago. I was their first. No issues to date. I can turn on my air compressor and drive for a week and not hear it cycle!

Well so far I have an offer to help me pull the 3rds and get them to ZUK.

ZUK says he can do everything but the compressor install/wiring.

Is it possible to install the 3rds with the AIR air locker inside, but not yet hooked up to anything outside of the diff and then drive it to 4WP for them to install the compressor and switches and whatnot?

Way easy. Brother-Rob-could-do-it easy. :D

I'm sure I can...I'm just concerned about the driveability factor.

While it may sound dumb to people who know the answer - I don't know if ZUK works his magic on the diffs and then I bolt that back together if I would be able to drive the vehicle with whatever fitting is outside the diff for the air locker......and have it not connected yet..

I cant visualize if I would have some open hole spraying out fluid or something of that nature...or what to expect yet.

If possible, Id like to run down to Phoenix, yank the 3rds.....bring them to ZUK, pick them up when hes done......reinstall them......then drive back to PV and start work on the compressor install.

Man. You just built a bumper for krisakes.
Install your own damn compressor.
When you're done, you'll laugh at yourself for how easy it is.

LOL Thats exactly what I'm thinking. Cody, it ain't rocket science. You tackled a bumper project that could potentially kill someone if your welds don't hold. Now you're scared to pull your thirds, run some wires and hook up a compressor. For someone who likes to get offroad and out in the boonies you shouldn't be so scared to jump in. Ask someone to help you and tackle it. You can do it.

I ran my wires and hooked up my compressor and I observed someone, who has lots of experience, do my gears themselves.

Oh, I'm sure its one of those things that seems insanely intimidating and impossible to do until you do it....sort of like the "how the hell do you remove the front corner lights?!?!" thing.

You kick yourself when you find out there is no hidden bolt stopping all progress...and that it simply pulls out of there if you tug on it.

I just didn't want to try removing them, get stuck...and now my truck is immobile with the 3rds hanging halfway out....

Or have the nice shiny new perfectly spec'ed parts be ruined because I installed something wrong...

I have someone down near ZUK's shop offering to help me pull them, and I assume reinstall.....so now the question thats open is can it be driven with the ARB lockers installed....but no air stuff installed yet?

...

If you need it to be drivable you can do it in stages. Pull the rear, lock the center and drive on the front. When the rear is done put it in, pull the front and drive on the rear.

No problem driving it before the airlines are connected. The ARB's lock with air pressure, so with no pressure they will be unlocked. Just seal up the fitting(s) so dirt doesn't get in.

This is what I mean......once these guys are installed...the nipple is there, but no hose connected...

Obviously I would not have air to lock the diff, so they would be unlocked...

But would I have fluid squirting out or something or could that just be left open, maybe wrap some tape around it to keep it clean?

I think I can get both diffs out and to ZUK one day...probably install them the next day (unless somehow this is done so fast I can remove and install same day)...

Something to consider. see the blue air line. I sleeved almost the entire length of my air line inside 1/4" fuel line. My compressor is in the rear quarter panel where the jack was and my ARB is in the front diff. Thru the quarter panel, under the carpet, thru the firewall and down to the diff, less than 1 foot of the total length is not sleeved.
It wasn't easy to do, but with a little WD40 and some patience, I made it happen.

Remove diff1, deliver diff1 to Zuk.
Go back to remove diff2, deliver diff2 to Zuk.
Pickup diff1 and install diff1.
Pickup diff2 and install diff2.

If you start early, I think this can be done in 1 long day.
