i was thinkin brembo drilled and slotted f/r
Stainless Steel Extended Brake Line Set from slee
hawk superduty pads
and Valvoline Synthetic DOT3/4 fluid

what do you guys think... and does anybody know where i can get a good price on the brembo rotors? i was thinkin about using brakeworld.com for the rotors and pads...
thanks for the help

Russ,
The SS brake lines that Slee has are supposed to be pretty good. They're lined and longer than stock which is needed if you are running longer shocks.

Brembo is supposed to be a good vendor for rotors and other brake parts but if the truck is used off road you would be advised to read up on the disadvantages of drilled. Slotted rotors seems to be acceptable in an off-road truck but not drilled.

I like and use the Valvoline Syn fluid. No scientific evidence that it's better but their reputation sold me.

As for the brake pads, I have never heard of Hawk but that doesn't mean much. The Toyota pads for the 100 Series are working very well for many of us and that's what I recommend when people install new rotors.

Read the archives for links to a great write-up on the proper "bedding in" procedure. This is an important step after doing a new brake job.

For those who want the best of both worlds, DBA is making a rotor now that is just as good as the drilled rotors in terms of heat dissipation and gas dispersion but they are not drilled. These rotors are called Kangaroo Paw or something and they achieve the same results by slotting and by an internal system of air passageways that permit the heat to transfer in between the two faces of the two rotors and then out through these air chambers. When my rotors (drilled & slotted) wear out I will probably get these. Then again, its hard and expensive to beat the OEM rotors. I had Brembos on my Runner and they were not that good in my opinion; I had warpage problems with the Brembos.

Dude, most of use use OEM. If you want the bling, that's cool, but do it somewhere else.

sorry man i was just askin a question... glad i asked...
should i still get the lines even if the truck isnt raised yet?
thanks

If you plan on lifting the truck, then getting the lines from Slee makes sense. I need to put my new ones on that I got from him.

About the bling comment, just get used to it. If we think you are headed in teh wrong direction, some of us try to steer you by hitting you with the BFH :D

not a problem... im new i prolly deserved it... pardon my askin but whats the bfh?

By the way Russbow6, welcome to the forum. You may notice we tend to be sarcastic and abuse each other, but these are some of the nicest guys around. I've learned a lot from folks here and have seen quite a few go far out of the way to help others.

Here's your welcome salute though LOL, :flipoff2:

Squeezer installed a 1700 in his, apparently the width spec for the 1700 on their site includes some drillable/trimable protrusions at the top, the 2150 is the same width according to their site but looks squarer so it may not fit , unfortunately his pics did not make the forum software change :(
