When I was 15 I got a 1984 Toyota Xtra Cab pickup. The dude that was building my house bought a white single cab Toyota 4x4 pickup.

He said once "Mine Plain Vanilla, yours Banana Split"

Picking this one up with Ward's VXR 100 reminded me of the story.

Mine Plain Vanilla. His Banana Split.

Here's the story. Here's the mild build and the stories that go with it.

A few months ago I decided I would sell my FZJ70 and replace it with a FZJ100. Why? Well, I really wanted to try one of these things out.

I sent Meshal out into the wild to find me a good one.

I wanted white, G or GX spec, rear tire carrier and amby doors with low miles.

This is the first one he came up with

129,000 KMs. (70,000 miles)

I'm not in the 100 section much so I'll admit, the last time I did any major mechanical work on a 100 was about 20 years ago.

It was a 2001 that I built up pretty nicely and sold off

My next 100 was built when I bought it and it served me and my daughter faithfully for about 12 years. We sold it last year and got her a new LC250 1958

My sons 2001 has 360,000 miles on it. I spent $8000 on it his senior year in High School at 49Tire and have not touched it since. That was 4 years ago.

So, I have many many many miles in 100s but not a whole lot of wrench time on them.

I spend my time working on anolog Cruisers every day though.

All that to preface that when I got it I asked Meshal to have his guys clean it up real good and fix anything that needed fixing and replace all the weatherstrips and plastics. Anything sunburned or dried out or leaking.

I've done this before with all the ones I've imported but I have to admit I choked on my drink when he hit me with a $7000 parts bill.

To his credit, he did everything I asked and more. Plus, it was all documented nicely.

As @OGBeno would say, that's an impressive pile of parts .....

Then it came time to ship the trucks.

Meshal is off getting married and he has trusted his cousin to finalize the papers and get the 100s to port.

Only to come out one morning to this

What the ****? I asked Meshal, "Don't they chop peoples hands off over there for stealing s***?"

He said they have gone soft and no longer do that.

Armed with this video, the cousin was able to land some new tags to get the trucks out of dodge before the Israelis bombed more s***.

So how do you like the coil pack? Your 4.5 has 240hp rating vs. my 4.7 at 235hp.
How do they compare, boss?

What's the torque rating for the two engines?
I have heard tons of good things abt 1FZ-FE but the 2UZ is smooth running, and arguably the most reliable engine to come out of the house of Mr. T.
I am also curious if the later 1FZ-FE suffer from the same oil leak issues as the earlier ones.
