Hi guys,

Currently driving around the world in an hzj78. Been getting some minor steering wobble for a few months, but the rough roads of India have made it a fair bit worse.

Had a real good look at it today and the front left tie rod end has a lot of play where the knuckle is (inside the rubber casing), when moving the steering wheel. I rebuilt that one with a kit and obviously did a pretty s*** job.

India unfortunately is one of the few countries there are next to no landcruisers, so m finding it impossible to find a replacement.

I am thinking I may continue driving to Lahore where there are heaps of 70 series, but that about 2000kms of driving.

There is absolutely no way it can pop out, it's really tight and strong.

What are your thoughts, at the moment I am torn.

Thanks all

that's where your wrong, the tierod can separate at the joint if it is worn that badly. it may be tight and secured to the knuckle and that wont separate, but I would be more concerned with the joint under the boot. theres really no way to repair it other than replacing it. you may be able to match something up with the same thread pitch on the rod but most likely the taper going into the knuckle wil be different, not ideal but might be an option.

I just ordered a set from Partsouq.com can you get delivery services where you are?
