Hey guys. Has anyone ever tied into the water temp sensor for a custom gauge? I have an aftermarket gauge and was thinking of tying into the water temp sensor on the thermostat housing for my new gauge and just keeping the existing wire there too so both the stock gauge in the cluster and my new gauge shows temp digitally. I just want to tap into the single wire coming off the sensor and run it into the cab to the new gauge. Is this possible? Make sense? The new gauge is a 2-wire....one for lead, one for ground.

Thanks!

No.
The OEM gauge gets +12 and the sender is a thermistor to ground.
1. The new gauge would need the exact same specs as the OEM gauge to read correctly if you were to use it in place of the OEM one.
2. The addition of a second gauge would increase the resistance causing both gauges to read incorrectly.

You should purchase the correct sender for the new gauge.

throw in a new gauge/sensor completely that way you can get a more accurate reading
