Those of you w/ AC on your 60's - I need some help figuring out a few things related to your crank pulley:

1- Do you have 3 grooves?

2- If so, what is the order of the belts on your crank pulley (ie, air pump closest to block, alternator, AC?)

3- Has anyone swapped a 3 groove pulley onto a FJ-40 2F w/ no AC?

I am working up the details for a PS conversion on my 40, wondering if I can use a sep. belt for PS...

BIG thanks in advance!

It is AC on the big pulley, than smog/wp, then Alt/PS. You can make it work on a 40 but you will need to fool with spacing a bit to line it all up. If you use a FJ60 WP and oil cooler with duel groove pulley and fan clutch it will all fit much better.

My '60 has a 2 groove puley on the crank. The inside belt powers A/C, smog pump, and water pump. The outside belt powers the alt and PS pump. I think.

I'm just wrapping up a PS conversion on my '72 '40 with F engine. I used a saginaw pump, bracket from JT outfitters, and powered it from a 2 groove water pump pulley from '77 2F. It took a 36 1/2" Chevy belt. Interestingly enough, the outside groove on the water pump pulley is narrow, like it was made for a Chevy belt.

The bracket needed a mod to clear the alternator belt tensioner, but otherwise it was easy.

Thanks for the welcome! :)

I could post some pics and write-up, if it would be useful to others. However, what I did is just a "shake the box" JT outfitters PS conversion with minitruck box. Quite unremarkable.

I was fortunate to have an entire drivetrain from a '77 FJ-40 sitting around.

My June 84 60 has a 2 groove crank pulley............

rear groove is water pump/smog pump

front is alt/AC/ps................
