I got tapped in traffic today by an expedition, was fairly gentle little tap I am surprised how much damage to the bracket behind the bumperett there is, once you get out beyond the cross member there is not much structure there, the guy was straight up and gave me his insurance info, going to call them Monday. The plastic bumped the body and scuffed the paint, not sure if I am going to have that part fixed or not,

Anybody got an estimate for what the bumperett and the support bracket behind it will cost from Lexus?
Are they painted like the Land Cruiser front bumperetts are? I do not really have the ability to leave it with a shop for any length of time. If I can get one pre painted I can do the work myself.

Does Dan have an Eivil twin at a Lexus dealership for good prices on Lexus parts?

side note, wile I was under there took a pic of this aluminum extrusion where the Land cruiser rear step would be sure does look like the bottom of the Land cruiser step, but others have said the step is not present, guess I will find out what it is soon (see pic)

Have him hit you again!

I waited 2 years for someone to hit me so I could get a bumper. Finally broke down last week and decided to do it the expensive way.

Good luck...

Braver than me!

RT,

You're a brave man, coming here and requesting to replace the LX bumperette with a like bumperette! (I actually delayed even bringing the topic here to the forum, fear of being hooted out as a soccer dad...or worse)

My local Lexus body shop quoted $283 to buy a new LR bumperette, paint and install. I didn't look to see if I was quite as "bent" as you are underneath, but, I can ask. My body shop babe didn't give me a breakdown...yet. I'll ask for it tomorrow, and post here when it comes my way.

Alright! Any CDan clones at a Lexus dealership wanna work with us on a GROUP BUY?! :grinpimp:

RavenTai,

I know the fender flares come "in-color", but I'm not sure about the bumperettes. Regarding the aluminum step, I believe some have found it there, and some have not. Looks like you may indeed have it.

Thanks guys, bull that is ugly,

yes putting on a new bumperett instread of a real bumper is pretty weak, but I am not going to be able to afford a real bumper for the forseeable future. might as well try to keep it looking god in the mean time,

Allstate should nto have a problem comign up with $300, hopefully I can source a pre painted one.

definatly makes one worried when a little tap does this much, what would a real smak do to the body if they missed the rear crossmember? I need a real bumper.

this winter a lady hit my lx right rear bumper while backong out of her parking spot next to mine. it left less dammage than your accident. I took her insurance and drove to the state farm appointed adjuster. it was one of those drive up places where you just get the cash for the damages. I was blown away when the lady adjuster gave me a check for $730. I read the statement and she basicly had the entire bumper and everything on it for replacement. I took the money and baught a new millermatic 175 and made new bumpers with the new welder. The only bad thing about my situation now is that I wont be suffering dammages from parking lot crashes in the future---however it will be fun to watch the damnages done to others. good luck man--you may get a new bumper out of this. (if you dont I'll sell you the parts you need for cheap as I dont need them any longer)

Bought a sledgehammer and a rag????????

I still have the ones that came off my 95 LC. Does the Lexus use a different one?

$730? wow you did quite well, I could deal with a bent bumperett for a wile if I had a nice shiney blue box in the garrage knowing real bumpers would eventually folow, that is truely the best solution,

got an appointment on wedsday at a similar drive up adjuster place, we will see what they do. gonna go vist the Lexus dealer today and see what the parts will run, maybe get a quick estimate at thier body shop.

Bob all the LX450 body palstic is diffrent, not by much but enough to not line up with other parts if you were to mount up LC plastic.

LX_TREME RT, If I were you i'll get those left piece from CDan (of course it's unpainted) and once you get them, take it to the body shop -around your area (did good job) then you install it yourself. It's not hard I've done it couple times on mine.

I didn't think CDan could get Lexus parts for the great prices he scores for MUD...

Anyhoo...

The body shop babe has responded!

$134.15 for the plastic cover
$30.81 for the side seal
$31.89 for the bracket (extn mount brkt)
$40.00 for body labor
$68.00 for paint labor
$37.40 for paint supplies
$14.06 for sales tax

ET VOILA! $356.31

Good luck, RT. I still think I'm gonna wait this one out, even though I lost a GREAT beer can rest. :D

I have had pretty good luck scoring LX450-specific parts. I think when they got loaded into the system they got input as Cruiser parts. I keep forgetting to tell them about it....;)

Nice! Just keep forgetting to bring up that little detail! I will keep it in mind that you can be your own evil twin brother.

I called 2 the two Lexus dealer in town, south side said $134.15 for the cap $30.81 for the bracket, north side said $59.46 for the bracket and $221.29 for the cap , that is a wide range. Dan talking to these guys just reinforces what you certainly are an excellent resource for the community, excellent knowledge base and great pricing on parts.

Stopped by a local body shop they politely told me they did not want to look at it until I had spoken the adjuster. I called the Southside Lexus body shop and they said the same,

Truckasaurus, thank you for that break down that looks like the major parts & labor I need, so if the adjuster gives $350 or better I have been made whole, I will certainly accept more if they offer it but could not rightfully ask for any more.

Dusty just noticed the second tone on your truck looks to be the same charcoal/dark silver color, at first glance I thought they would be green, PM on the way.
