I posted it on the photos thread, but thought i should cross post it here to garner more comments

i ordered this a few weeks ago from a site well, lets say it cost me more than i thought.

The Tire Rack gave me a quote which was good, but i went with a third party buying place due issues with trying to actually pay for it.

Anyway, long story short, once i verify the wheel fits ok, i'll be going direct thruogh The Tire Rack (Charlie was the sales guy) and order 3, then two for a total of six rims. I have to keep the order below $1000 AUD so i dont pay GST.
I'll be keeping my "steelies" in the garage.

Web page Ultra Gauntlet Black Painted

they are 18x9. I'm thinking 285x70 Nitto trail grapplers. Thoughts?

I think you should send me your steelies.

hehe, well i have 8 steelies. I did have 13, but sold 5 to Bill in Sth Australia via lcool.org.

They weigh an absolute ton... the 4 on the LC at the moment have 265x75 KM2s (the steelie is 16x8), the spare is a Cooper STT which cant be balanced...dont get me started on that.

One in the garage is the factory spare from when i bought it new in march 2005, complete with an unused GrandTrek. And i have two almost new rims that i bought off eBay from a Toyota dealership in Sth Australia where they took em off and replaced with dealer installed alloys.

Work out a price, i could remove the tyres, but shipping will kill you.
cheers

Im very curious on how these wheels will look, as I was going to order myself a set as well from Tire Rack. Can you please post pictures of these things mounted. Thanks!

yeah sure. I'm going to get this one rim fitted to make sure there arent any issues (Th Tire Rack said there wont be any) but hey i need to make sure given i'm spending a lot of money importing them to Oz.

I get paid monthly, so assuming the rim fits ok today, i;ll order the next 3 on the 16th.

Then i;ll order some tyres locally and the remaining two rims.

But, for those of you with 18" rims...tyres? i'm thinking 285x70 ??
Anyone?

They will be mud terrain.

cheers

Do you know what the offset is on these rims and do you have a lift on your 100?

I also thought I remembered in Australia you were limited by law on how much you can upsize your tires?

I don't have it lifted yet and the offset is on the web link to the Tire Rack. Can't remember right now - watching the Friday night AFL game and enjoying my Jim Beam Black Label :-)

I went to Widetread in Ferntree Gully today and test fitted the rim front and rear. No issues. Those guys are great and didn't charge me anything.

no lift, my buddy said wheel lock to wheel lock 285/65/18 MT's (terra grapplers) worked fine, but that they rubbed under flex while off roading. he had aftermarket 18's also. not sure of width or offset. im running 275/65/18 AT's (stock 18's) with no issues whatsoever other than me wishing they were a little bigger. stupid garage height limitations!

What size tire did you test fit with?

i tested the "naked" rim, no tyre just to make sure there was no clearance problems.

Charlie from the Tire Rack said there wouldnt be any and there wasnt, but when you're shipping a rim that's not sold in Australia so many thousand miles, you want to ensure it fits - clearing callipers and all that.

It does fit, and i've ordered the next 3, and will order another 2 for a total of 6 eventually. Gauntlet Black 18x9

Very happy with the Tire Rack, except for the USA speeling of tyre :flipoff2:

PS: this was on my sales order, and tell him Peter Moore from Australia sent you:

If you have questions about the products you have ordered, please call Charlie (ext.791) at 888-727-8092 or email charlie@tirerack.com.

You are not getting any rubbing with that setup? Are you running a lift?

You could not have wheeled with that setup and not rubbed. Maybe a dirt road, but not in any uneven terrain....

just the fact that i stopped hearing and feeling that annoying rub made those t bars worth every penny. And i was told be enough people that with the bumper and winch it only makes sense. btw I was running through the pic thread and saw your bumper and I love it

I was thinking 285 given 295 is an oddball size. Do you have spacers? They're illegal here.
