I am thinking of a four door Tundra to replace my FJ-60. Having just thought of this , I was thinking of where to mount my 50 QT fridge.

Do the rear doors open 90 degrees? My idea was to remove the rear seats and build a platform. Put the fridge on a slide.

Will this work? Thanks

What year and model Tundra are you looking at?

I was thinking of the crew cab four door. Not sure of the years. I have not gotten that far in this project. more interested if the doors open 90 degrees . That could determine what generation of Tundra.

Not sure if you meant double cab or the full Crewmax. But the rear doors on my 11' double cab open to just shy of 90 degrees, about 80-85 I'd guess. I doubt you'd have any trouble fitting it in the crewmax as the rear doors are a true full size door, but I can't recall just how far they open

I have had both club and crew cab and have stored my fridge in both but not with a slide. I am sure it will pull out somewhat but not sure you can extend all the way out.

I've got a 2018 CrewMax Tundra, but I'm thinking of buying a used 2nd Gen to build into an expedition style vehicle. I would probably buy a Double Cab so I can get the 6.5' instead of the 5.7' bed. The downside with a Tundra is that they are very wide, which means less clearance on Jeep trails and perpetual off road pin stripes. IMHO

I just picked up a 2008 second generation Tundra ( 2007-2013). It's old enough to not worry about scratching it or babying it, but new enough to be reliable and nice. I'd get the best one you could find for the money, but I'd be sure it was a 5.7L 4x4 with the tow package. Tow packages came with the optional 6 speed automatic transmission and a trans cooler gauge on the dash. Why spend $30k when you can get a solid Gen II for $14-20k (depending on mileage and condition). I'd also go with vinyl seats if you can find them; mine are excellent still. Also run a car fax and find one that has been maintained. Look out for cam tower and rear main seal leaks on 100k + motors. 5.7L has a timing chain.

Changed the side bars today. Still looks new and it's a 2008.
