you'll miss it

Once the 60 is gone you will miss it,then you will be kicking yourself for getting the FJC. i have nothing against the FJC just hate being in it due to blindspots and i have kids that love to see what is outside the window which the FJC is lacking.

Yah got the right idea/formula......!!
Go all out....
Do it right...do it once....!!!!!

Post pics eh !!!!!

If you have the funds swap in a diesel and get good mileage and power as long as it's a turbo. I have no issues keeping up and passing traffic at highway speeds. I love my 60, there have been times when I've asked myself this same question but I've always come back to keeping the 60 as there just isn't anything else quite like it.
We actually have plans now to drop about $10K onto it for a frame swap, body work and drivetrain and we have no regrets about this. Heck after we spend the money it going to last another 28 years. Tell me that a FJC will last that long....

I sat in an FJC for about five seconds. I couldn't see out the stupid little windows so I thanked the salesman (more like "no thanks") got back in my 60 and drove away. I bought a clean used Bimmer as a daily driver and companion to the 60. Life is good this way. The car is a great car and the Cruiser is the beast I need it to be.

I've got a 60 right now but had a fjc for quite some time.. pretty built up.

I think it all depends on what you want to do with it and you.. are you patient? do you enjoy the ownership of a "vintage" truck? can you do some repairs on your own, or do you have a bankroll to have someone baseline the 60? is ride quality/ noise/ comfort important to you?

the fjc, is much more comfortable, faster, safer, more fuel efficient, modern, and I want to say even more capable off road , stock vs stock then the 60. Also it's reliable already, no need to go in and baseline everything.. I miss the fact that I can just hop in and Go, without any worries.

yet.. I chose the 60, why? It's got character and it fit's ME better.I just love the truck... Other then the 60 being larger, the fjc makes much more sense for me... but love doesn't always make sense. and I love the 60 series... and just simply enjoy it more.

You see FJc's all over the place, but the 60 is unique. It's slow as a turd with the 2F, and has it's quirks and issues, but i've learned to just cruise in the slow lane and enjoy it. One thing that's a definite difference, as lcwizard mentioned is that the fjc chassis seems to be a lot more "light truck" then the 60. Just go under and compare the metal thickness on the frame alone.. I had the issue of my fenders bulging on my fjc and had to have the dealer fix it.

the FJC, kicks the cruisers butt in high speed / washboard/ dirt roads etc.. with it's IFS. If you stick with 33's, you also don't need to regear, and with the stock locker out back and atrac up front, I think it might also be cheaper to mod then the 60, depending on what you want to do.. I also think the fjc is much more comfortable on long trips, then the 60.

I've never seen a FJC as a cruiser, i guess they have the name and hokey bezel, but to me thats about it. i love my 60 and wouldnt trade it for 5 fjc's (other than to resell maybe) and the 40's i have had all have been true cruisers, a fjc is far removed from them all in my opinion but we are all diffrent, i dont have to DD mine, its used as a campin/canoe haulin/dog haulin/huntin/fishin, you get the idea rig.. and is perfect for that. but ask this on a fjc board and you will get totally diffrent answers i am sure... whatever you decide, do yourself a favor and base your comparisons on equal footing....

Don't compare a 60 that is in need of a steering box and knuckle rebuild, tuneup, dizzy and carb, new wheels, a balance and alignment, new stereo, working wipers and A/C etc....

to a new or newly used FJC in perfect condition... it wouldn't be a fair comparison.

ask yourself what your pick would be if you drove a 60 that was in new or restored condition, as many have done, or the FJC.

if you decide that you'd rather have a premuim 60 over an FJC, then put your monthly payment or cash into the 60 and build your dream truck. Otherwise, plunk down your funds at the dealership for an FJC and enjoy your purchase. either way, its hard to beat a Toyota truck!

It al depends

We own both a FJ Cruiser and a 60. I drive the 60 as my DD right now and you can't get my wife out of the FJ Cruiser. She absolutely loves it and I do too. THE ONLY REASON I DON'T DRIVE THE FJC IS BECAUSE SHE DOES. Both are limited to light wheelin' in my opinion. The FJ Cruiser is much more comfortable, more economical on fuel mileage, and much quieter.

If you drive alot or long distances the FJC is the way to go. If you are like Dennis Leary and think you have to drive a vehicle older than your child you might have to go with a 60.

So, did yah keep it or ??????

A few mods as stated by a few above and you'll have the best of both worlds...
Space/Power and looks... yeh baby !!!

Why sell it? Ur gunna buy a $25,000 car and youll get im guessing 3k for the 60 (idk what mods u have so maybe more) either way, your gunna have a FAT monthly payment so if ur sellin the 60 just to make the down, be patient and collect some cans, sell ur old bike from your garage and maybe work the corner a couple times, then go for the FJC, personally, my moms boyfriend has an FJC and when he went out of town i drove it, after 2 days i parked it in front of my house and drove my 60 instead. U dont get the same looks in an FJC as u do in a 60, and who wants to drive a car with 75% plastic anyways??

FJC for sale

I saw a used Yellow FJC for sale today. It will be an individual as it was in a parking lot with a sign. Equipped with a Warn bumper and winch. I can go by and get more details if your interested.

Two buck and Wingit.

Either one is a solid truck. IMO the 60 will outlive and outperform that FJC. I'm an old truck advocate and you can't beat old school Jap engineering, new school isn't quite the same caliber! Plus anyone can go out and buy a FJC, but it takes a certain personality to want to drive an old 60 series, or any LC for that matter. I've always driven new trucks, and finally bought a 400 000km HJ61, it's paid for, insurance is cheap, maintenance is within my realm of mechanical ability, and that m-fer has character! Good luck! No regrets

I've got both now. I just picked up my FJ60 to augment my FJC and FJ40. I picked up my FJC in 5 years ago when they were first released and have loved it every day since I got it.

If you can afford to keep and have the room for the 60 you won't have any regret after you sell it.

That being said I love my FJC it is a very capable rig out the door. I've done a far amount of mods to mine that didn't break the bank to make it a even better trail rig. There are some big blind spots but as long as you know how to use your mirrors they aren't a issues and you get used to them. The back seat is a little claustrophobic inducing for the passengers, I really don't care since I drive and don't sit back there, it's a great dd.

Apples and oranges. The FJC is a modern truck that is great on the highway and still capable off-road. a 60-series is a great off-road truck and still capable of being driven on the highway. But there is a big gap between the two. It will be a lot easier to increase the off-road capability of the FJC than it will be to increase the highway aspects of the 60. All depends on what the primary purpose of the truck will be. If you want more of a compromise between the two and/or just can't get over the FJC hate like a lot of folks here, then buy a late 80 or 100-series.
