Things to do while doing head gasket 3b

Ill be putting my 3b into another vehicle and want to do the head gasket while its out because i think its leaking. Is there a list of things to do while the head is off? Im reading precups is a good idea. Anything else? Want to get a parts list together

Certainly, the precups are worth doing.

I'd get some spare exhaust studs.

I’m in the same boat. My plan was head gasket, front and rear mains, water pump, hoses, oil pan gasket and possible precups. I’ve been putting it off because I want to do it right. Also much easier to do those things with the engine on a stand.
I’m sure others have more so I’ll be paying attention here for additional ideas with you.

I'd be concerned about cracks in the head too. So have a good look over it. If I ever decide to remove the head on mine I will have a new head ready to go.

Would it make sense to do lifters too? Mine taps pretty good untill the oil pressure comes up

have you done a valve set? I have heard they can wear a bit and not be able to set easily.

I adjusted them. It wasnt as warm as it shouldve been but i cant imagine that bit of difference would make that much noise
