JUNE 16, 2006: THE XM SOUND QUALITY PROBLEM HAS BEEN FIXED BY TOYOTA

Toyota has released a new head unit for the FJC that will fix the XM radio sound quality problems. I had my new head unit installed today and the XM radio sounds much better. You need to have your dealer order you a new head unit with the fix. I looked at the old head unit and the new head unit and they had the same part number, so I don't know how they distinguish which head units have the fix. I assume that your dealer or their Field Product Engineers will be able to tell. My head unit was replaced under warranty, so you should not have to pay for this to be fixed.

I just had XM installed and audio quality is crap. Do I just need to replace just the head unit, or xm tuner as well.

XM is going to be gone in the next two years. Sirius is the way to go. Way more music, NFL, NASCAR, Howard Stern, etc. It has emergerd as the dominant technology. Kinda like the Beta Max vs.VHS.

There is an updated headunit to fix the XM sound quality issues. The problem is NOT with the XM receiver. If you talk with your local Toyota dealer they should be able to look up the TSB# for this issue. They will have to order a new headunit from FujitsuTen and install it in your FJ. I had mine replaced and the sound quality is much better.

EDIT: I just found the TSB #AU002-06 in post #33 in this thread on www.FJCruiserForums.com

Wall Street dosn't like a company that can piss a half BILLON $$ on a washed up old fart who only works 4 days a week .
They also dont like when you use sub.#s that show cars still sitting on the showroom but are counted aa active subs.

Ok now i know why XM stock is still trading higher then Sirius

Seems like "Howard Math and Logic" strikes again .

If you say it enough times you'll start to believe it too

Oh and as for Beta Max / VHS thing better check that out too as VHS is a jeep to Beta was the LandCruiser.
Not as many sold ,but much better platform ;)

Well my prediction was a little long sighted. In November (post #4 in this thread), I had said the merger/takeover of XM by Sirius would be in about two years. I would not of guessed 4 months!

My portfolio is jumping with joy. Well I guess thre "betamax" has finally had it's day.
