Thanks Albert for the kind words. It is funny you said that. I had a signs that said BSLCA trail. I was going to put it on the property at different spots. My exit was a little different than I expected and I never got to put them up or take pics. Their is always a next time and we do have trails down south that are BSLCA trails. Donated for the cause. Let me know when you guys want to go. Everyone is always welcome. Man, I could go on and on about the insane biodiversity of that area. I have these plant and tree field guides and I sit in one spot and try and identify all of the lush surroundings, impossible for me, but fun. Just the symbiosis alone between plants and animals is crazy. As far as father and son, it truly is memories and bonding that cannot be equaled, and he likes Toyotas too.

I hate snakes. Seems like heaven without the snakes. I hate snakes:mad:

I came 6 inches from stepping on this hog nose pit viper. I walked right by him and was returning down the trail 5 minutes later and saw him. His belly seems to be full. Game over if you don't have medical attention in 4 hours. I was 5 hours from help. Definitely shook me up a bit.

Nice pics John. How was the event overall?

Small compared to the rest I have been to, which is strange since it was located so close to Houston. It is their first year in this location, but it should have been better.

Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Tennessee

Its one of my favorite places in the states. It offers fantastic scenery of the mountains and wildlife, great hiking and camping, tubing and white water rafting. A fantastic place to spend time with the family. If your crew likes the outlet malls, discount tool-shops, go carts and amusement parks they have that as well. Dollywood is the biggest in what was once a Silver Dollar City she bought it years ago and put people to work in her home town. The kids always love to spend time there. She also owns other places that entertain as well. Knoxville is only 25 min away and is a beautiful city built on the river with the Smoky's in the background. Gatlinburg is 10 min away and is a great place to spend time as well. If you're thinking of getting away and checking out a new place I highly recommend you checking it out. If you are on a budget I can help plan a great but inexpensive time there away from the tourist traps. A few of my pics with the kids.

Looks like a great trip!

Always, its a beautiful area. Anytime the club wants to make a trip I can arrange it and give you all a tour. My parents have plenty acreage with a pond and creek on the property that borders the National Park. Plenty camping area for the whole club. :)

Say when .....

Thanks, you would really enjoy it then. :) The Cherokee North Carolina reservation is right over the MTN and offers a beautiful 30 min drive through the MTNs and is a great area for exploring and rich in history as well. Didn't have enough time to take them but will have something for next time. :D

Greece 2008

My :princess: is half greek and in 2005 she did some research and found that she had family in a small village in Greece called Kameri, south of the city of Tripoli. Her father was born there and left at a very young age in 1917 or something, and never went back (he fathered my wife at an older than usual age, in case you are trying to do the math). Anyway, we visited in June of 2005, met a bunch of wonderful relatives living off the land there and promised to return in one year. Then Katrina hit and the rest is history.

This year we finally were able to return. Below are pictures of our trip to share. The first week I rented a car in Athens and we drove throughout the Pelopenese peninsula, visiting Tripoli, Kameri, Nafplion, Olympia and Patrai, returning to Athens via northenr Greece towns of Delphi and other smaller villages, arriving in the Port City of Piraus to pick up our cruise for the second half of our stay.

In Piraus we boarded The Crystal and cruised to Istambul, Turkey, The only city in the world that stradles two continents (Europe and Asia). There we visited the Great Bazaar, Blue Mosque, Aghia Sophia, etc., then cruised to Patmos, Mykonos, Rhodes, Crete and Santorini before returning to Athens, where we visited the Parthenon, again!

Here are some photo samplings of our Journey (wife, son and I). I hope you enjoy them.

The family received and treated us to a nice home-cooked lunch and home-made wine with the alcohol content of fine rum
