A few days back i was working up under my dash replacing the ignition switch on my truck, in order to do that job you have to remove the lower trim panel,
Mounted to that lower trim panel is the factory hand throttle control cable, Well as bad luck would have it mine got broken when i went to reinstall it,
The plastic part of the cable housing broke off where it fits inside a metal crimp fitting,
I looked on line and i can buy a new one from Partsouq for 29 bucks plus shipping, for a grand total of about 45 bucks and a week or so wait for it to get here,
But since it's a nice 4TH of July weekend i decided to try and fix the cable myself, What i did is i made a set of custom metal split clamps with 2 guide pins to align, and clamp the two parts back together,
After looking at my photos and all the work it took to make this clamp, Please tell me if you think I'm crazy to spend this much time repairing a broken cable, or should i of just spent the money and bought a new one,
This first photo is a photo of where the plastic cable housing snapped off from the metal crimp tube
This photo is a side view of the clamp i made with 2 guide pins to align and clamp everything back together
And last, this is a top view of the clamp
