i was wondering if there's a free source for an owner's manual on the web somewhere... i've got the engine and chassis/body manuals in pdf format from the birfield site, but am looking for something more general operating issues (like: what are those switches on the dash with the label worn off? and how far does that needle go before the head cracks? and what kind of oil/grease/air filter should i use?)

thanks,
steve

Welcome to the club! Hit the diesel forum and you will find some part numbers for the air/oil/fuel filters your 2H needs. I havent found anything by way of the owners manual yet but I think SOR has them. I have been watching ebay.com.au hoping to pick for cheap.

Congrats on the new truck!:bounce: Where are you located?

Congratulations!

Here are the part numbers (from searching here) from Napa for the filters:

Napa Gold Air Filter 2159
Napa Gold Fuel Filter 3393
Napa Gold Oil Filter 1627

They all worked like a champ.

Hey Congrats!

If you dont mind me asking, how did you go about finding your HJ47? I assume it is from OZ?

I am prolly a month or two behind you and am gathering info for a troopie purchse.

Thanks,

kent

how to find a troopie...

first there was google...

then craigslist...
(one pops up there every once in awhile)

then ebay...
(they pop up there with regularity)

then ih8mud...

nearly got one from an ebay guy, thought about one from another seller, knew i didn't want to spend the money for one that was in near perfect condition (nice, but impractical), and ended up getting mine from marv at spector off-road (www.sor.com) after emailing them and asking if they had any hj47's... they did, and the price was right, so that was that.

the guy at www.iwantalandcruiser.com is very friendly and it seems like they get are able to provide some very nice vehicles, as is the guy at www.pvcruisers.com and as i found out a few weeks ago, there's now a guy in town (Austin, Tx) that has brought some over from Oz and is going to be selling them--i don't have an email for him, but can get you his contact info.

cool pics.

it will provide some nice miles I'm sure.

Try Toyota for the manuals. They may sell them.

You can get the manuals on Birfield.com print them and put in a binder.

My 1981 chassis manual covers all the 4x stuff you would need.

very nice!!
