I just returned from a week in Aruba and while I was there I noticed a lot of 70 series trucks with gas engines. On a whim I stopped at the only Toyota dealer to basically see some new 70 series trucks in person. Well I found out that the 70 series are special order only so none on the lot, so I went to the parts department to chat.
I asked for a 2F oil filter and to my surprise, the guy pulled from the shelf the real 15600-41010 filter, still made in Japan. He had the filter on the "frequent use shelf" since he said it is one of the most popular filters that the dealer uses/sells. He said he had over 450 of those filters in stock. I then asked him about some NLA 2F parts, and he was 100% positive that he can get almost anything for the 2F.
I realize that traveling to an other country for an oil filter is eccentric, but since I was there why not. While sourcing NLA parts in other countries is difficult, it may be an option for hard to find parts.
