Well, I didn't think this day would come, but I really have no choice if I am going to get my 40 done this year.
I am selling 2 1979 FJ55's. One is in great running condition with stock powersteering and A/C(except for the sanden compressor and Vintage Air mount). It is complete with all of the emissions control and stock parts. It has a new FJ60 radiator, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel pump, fuel filter, valve cover gasket, valve adjustment, the carb was rebuilt, all fluids have been changed(transmission, t-case, front diff, rear diff) it has a new windshield, and most new seatbelts. The interior is complete and in good condition. The rear tailgate widow still works great. There is a crack in the dash, and the previous owner cut the dash to all a newer radio, but besides that it is in great shape. The body is what is the real drawback with this cruiser. It has rust in all of the common areas including lower doors and tailgate. The fenders and upper fender are also pretty much gone. The roof seems to be in good shape and upper 2/3rds seem to be in great shape.
The second 79 55 has no motor, or transmission/t-case. The interior is there, but in bad shape. The reason I purchased this cruiser was for the body. The cruiser was an Arizona cruiser and the body shows it. No it is not perfect, but it is all salvagable and really it is hard to find any real rust issues(even the rockers are intact). The frame is in great shape, the only issue I could find with the frame is someone removed the rear motor mount brackets, besides that it is in great shape. It also has springs and axles. The windshield needs cleaning, but is not broke, and both of them have the stock wheels.
I am located in Kaysville Ut, about 20 miles north of Salt Lake City.
I really don't want to part with them, but I must finish my 40, and I also ended up buying an 80 for my wife, so there is no need for two wagons besides the cool value. I am asking $4,500 which is what I am in to both of them minus the trips I made to go get them. I am not looking to make money on the deal, I just want to break even, I figure the drive to get them was a good road trip. I really would like them to go to someone who can fix them up and make one nice 55.
