I've never actually been a big "beer guy" but I break down to basically 2 catergories:

In a pub, or with a dinner, I like Newcastle or a similar "brown ale."

On a hot, sweaty summer day, BBQ fired up, lawn just mowed, nothing hits the spot like and ice cold Miller Lite.

:)

Ken, I was in Whole Foods today down in Amherst Ma and they had it, you have
a Whole Foods near you?

oof... closest one is down in Andover, MA, over 40 miles away.

There's a convenience store ovah in Dovah that sells all sorts of cool stuff, I'm gonna try there.

Shiner beer. Yummy. Huge fan of the Harpoon IPA and a properly poured Guinness.

I had the Shiner Bock down in Myrtle Beach and really thought it sucked!
Very weak in the flavor department, rate it right up there with Budlite. : (

I used to love a wheat beer from I think it was Blue Moon. They used to have a restaurant on Rt1 in Saugus. I think that was the name of it, something Moon. I think they closed or got bought or something. It was a blackberry wheat, very very yummy. They made it seasonally. I like a good IPA when I see them, I like Harpoon's IPA. I also...for some strange reason have a soft spot for Foster's. I don't really know why, and won't admit it very often...:)

Was at 5th Ave Liquors down the street and they told me about a Sierra Nevada special beer called Harvest. It's a wet hop ale that they pick all the hops for it in one day. They sold out fast and 5th Ave was out. Had to do a wine tasting last night in Woburn and the store had 6 bomber bottles of it sitting in the cooler next to me. Will be guzzling one later today whilst I figure out what the hell I've done to myself and my garage.

Here's last nights tasting, Rock Art Brewery's Hell's Bock.
I've had stronger tasting Bocks before but this was still really good.
8.0% ALC, 20 oz bottle, $6.
Good hop flavor, amber color. I'd get it again.
Brewery is in VT.

HELLS BOCK

Maybe there was some kind of Fosters virus in your troopy:beer:

They don't even sell that s*** down there..... I asked about an Aussie about it one time and he never heard of it.

yesterday, I picked up a 1/2 gallon growler of Lake Placid Ubu. good stuff made up in Lake Placid NY for one of the restraunts. I really enjoy Otter Creek Summer Ale when I can get it. Magic Hat Heart of Darkness is always a favorite too.

lol...I think its bottle in the US some where.. You saying you don't like it?!?

I tried it once..... that was enough for me (we need a puking smilie):hhmm:

It's only good on tap at Outback Steakhouse in a frosted mug with a bloomin onion. That's when it's perfect!

Found the Long Trail Coffee Stout at the aforementioned market yesterday. Tried it last night with lobster ravioli. Very good, but for $5.79 a bottle, it's not THAT good. They slap some fancy "Brewmaster Series" sticker on it, so I guess that means they can charge waaay too much for it. I still prefer the Bluefin Stout, 2 bottles for $5 at Market Basket.

Chimay is GOOD stuff.... Rick if you like Chimay, you might like Grimburgen blonde ale. It's a lighter ale than Chimay, but it's got a really good full flavor to it, and a little bit of a sweetness.

Lane, have you ever tried Tenfitty stout? I've only had it once but I can say it was the best stout I've ever had, incredibly smooth and thick, I haven't been able to find it. The BBC Coffeehouse Porter is awesome too. i'll be looking for that Long Trail Coffeehouse.

WHERE DID YOU FIND THIS???

I've been hunting this stuff down, have never seen it in any stores, and I've looked in some places that boast about their selection. I even drove alllll the way up to the brewery once a few years ago, and damned if they didn't have it in stock. Gotta find me some!

I have tried every single stout I can get my hands on, I love the stuff. My favorite so far is Shipyard Bluefin Stout. Yummy flavor, not too strong, dark as used motor oil from an old 2F. It's on the shelves in Market Baskets now, check it out, 20 oz bottles or six-packs.

X2 on the Shipyard Bluefin Stout. For lighter fare I like Geary's Pale Ale. And I always keep a few PBRs in the garage fridge :p
