I was thinking that same thing....me & Mrs. X singing ...Bill doing the back up.....in a flashy sequin dress "doo whop, doo whop" swaying & snaping his fingers.......oh yeah
The badlands was not kind to me this weekend!! First i broke the shift linkage on my duals on the first obsticle of the day in the quarry. Blew a tire off the bead (not really a big deal ) Tore up my pax side even more. Now for the duzy, so my truck was stuck in 4.7:1 due to the above shift linkage failure, so to get home i had to shift the case back into hi range and the only way i could get to it was with a crow bar and a hammer. So i smacked it back in to hi range and went on my way. Well the truck was making kind of a metallic griding sound almost like its not fully in gear but the truck was driving fine so i said F it and kept on driving. The case was running hot the whole way home, then again it was all day. Got home tossed it in the garage, and later in the evening poked my hed under the truck and notice the entire underside coated in gear lube and a 2inch round puddle under the truck. Today i was going to change the fluid so i removed the drain plug from the lefty and found a pile of metal shavings and half the c clip from what i think is the lo range shift rail. Drained the crawler and found a bunch more metal shavings. SO tomorrow morning before work im going to drop the crawler and lefty and this week tear it apart. Best case scenario is replace the c clip, clean out the case, find a wore down shift collar, and move on. Worst case i fugged evreything up due to metal in the cases. Aside from the noise and heat the truck drove fine the whole way home, and im damn lucky that c clip didnt get stuck in a bearing or lock the case/crawler up on 41. I would have had to call the campers to come rescue me!!!
