It is always mounted in the clear plastic housing, all the mounts use the housing (it that is your question). The camera itself is just a cube.

cool. So the audio recording "just works"?? If so, you're gonna love my V8 with it;s performance exhaust system!!
How so? I see it's a stabilizing mount for a boat and therefore costs a s*** load (a lot more than my camera with mount cost).
I actually prefer the cam to follow the vehicle and with off road impacts I don't think the hydraulic stab. would do much... probably great on nice rolling waves while sailing however.
Now your talkin'! That could be some fun.....I'm thinking about trying to build one.
