Congrats moooo, it's fun isn't it. Cruiser sounds awesome, nice gurgle!

Sounds great Mooooo. I was playing around the other day with the worlds loudest 100 intake system. It's almost unbearable under normal driving conditions. But sounds soooo good.

Just had a brainwave. For those of us on here that haven't done it yet let's add a tag of ih8mud to our videos be they at YouTube , Vimeo or wherever tags are supported.

That way we can search for ih8mud and also YouTube will offer up videos with similar tags in the sidebar.

Good idea! FYI- my windows were open. Sorry for the late reply. I saw you took that part out.

np

the air intake sounds great.
obviously different to mine.

i'd love to hear the K&N system that Darren P installed .

I emailed him a while back about something else, he's happy.

Let me know if you want me to follow that up.

EDIT:
gonna tag all of my videos with "i8mud" tag. now.
i thought it was a good idea.
and i know its probably there anyway.

all my 4 videos have ih8mud as a tag.

Griffin going down Trail 7 at GSMTR. Gives you a little perspective on how tight Gold Mountain is for 100's. I didn't think I tagged anything until the other day when I saw a brand new dent in the rear quarter panel...Griffin navigated it perfectly

80 vs 100 comparisons

I had the pleasure of spending a day with a fellow Mud member at Rausch Creek, PA last weekend. He had his 80 and I had my 100.

With no intention of starting another religious war over the topic, I believe that the video does a pretty accurate job in reflecting how the two trucks go about their business. And could serve as helpful input to someone trying to make a decision between the two trucks.

While I love my 100--and would not trade it--I must say that the 80 looked far more composed and arguably capable. Later in the day there were two other obstacles that I did not attempt in my 100, but the 80 went up them--I was concerned about getting hung-up, with lower lift and worse approach/departure angles. The greatest difference seemed to be the ease with which the 80 gets a tire up on the obstacle. The 100 often has to lift up the whole front end in the air to get a tire on the obstacle, where as the 80 can just scoot one tire up while the rest of the front end stays balanced. That's the nature of the SFA vs IFS I guess (or at least the not so flexible IFS in our trucks.)

There was much more action rest of the day where both trucks performed well. There was one instance, where the 100 with ATRAC (lockers not used) got through a semi-muddy, subtle incline with rocks, with greater ease than the 80. The 80 was eventually fully-locked and did make it, but took more time. That could have been just the AT vs MT tires.

Couple of details on the trucks:

1997 LX450 - 80 - series
Factory lockers
35" AT - Terra Grapplers @ 14 psi
4" lift
Swaybars disconnected

2006 LX470 - 100 - series
ARB lockers
35" MT - Good Year MT/R @ 16 psi
2" AHC sensor lift (running AHC suspension)
Swaybars connected

Cool video, looks like you have an inside brake light out, the drivers side.....

Great video... driver of the 100- keeping wheels turned during a couple of those spots probably did not help with the traction.

I've owned both LC's and the 80 is better on the trail (traction wise) hands down. The 100 is better in every other way.

disconnect sway bars on 100 series next time for a better comparison of the rear, but there really isn't that much of a comparison of a front IFS, especially one with ancient tech in torsion bars, vs. a coil sprung solid front axle.

Entertaining video RobRed! Looks like Dobie needs some mud terrains next time.

He has them - he just didn't mount them for that day.

Frankly once you've done the mud pit there is no reason to ever do it again. Getting that brand of mud out of every nook and cranny is a nightmare. I'll bet he's still finding it under the truck.
