drawers by label appear to be Truck Vault which if you go to their website you can see them as they are proud of them as well. They do look good.

They are Truck Vault drawers. I was doing random searches on craigslist and found them. Guy bought them custom fit for his LX, totaled the LX a month later, and then had them in his garage for a bit. Would never buy them new, too expensive, but I got them at a 1/4 of the cost.

Planned on giving my opinion and taking more pics once I get another mod sorted out. But the drawers are nice, very beefy and secure.

For real. $2900 for two drawers.

^ Wow, I built kitchen cabinets for a few years before I went back to college for my edumacation.

Maybe I should get back into it. :)

From a Utah trip a few of us took last month (what highway 70 looks like from underneath):

If you made a kit that the average DIY'er could assemble at home, it would probably sell extremely well here.

making progress. Not a one man job like I thought

I've been designing my drawers for the past few months when I have time. These are made from 0.5" thick Baltic birch that has been structurally light weighted. All the pieces are being CNC Cut. All the tie down rails are flush mounted with the top. Assembly is with the Kreg Jig System. Total height is 12". I don't plan on using it as a sleeping platform so I opted for a little taller drawer. It's 9.5" deep drawers. I am working on fold up wings right now for the sides. All the hinges will be hidden and the entire top surface will be flush. It's pretty much a basic box with a drawer.

Weight is about 50 lbs per complete drawer

How much do you think it will cost to build these? ^^

My cost spreadsheet has it at around $830 for the pair. I have a friend with a cabinet shop who is doing the CNC work for free for me. Typically it's $165 for the setup and $30/15 min time on the machine. It only takes about 15 min to cut everything. So add those costs I and you are close to getting an ARB set. So for me it's relatively cheap. Half an ARB set.

paul keep us up on the info; the key will be if we go to the build is the shipping to everyone that wants to buy.

Yeah. Im not offering the plans for sale yet. This is purely a personal project but if there was enough interest I could make the DIY plans available. Fab drawings are already finished. I have to see if the first version works well enough.

Nice WRV sticker. My dad used to ride for them back in the 60's.

Dad must've been a hard charger back then! That is very cool. I grew up near Virginia Beach and live on the Outer Banks, NC several summers between college semesters. WRV was founded in 1967 so he must've been one of the original team members.

Your homemade drawer plans look good. I also have a good friend that owns a cabinet shop and he recently purchased all new CNC cutting tables with a new CAD software package for cabinet design. I was planning to recruit him to help me make some drawers as well. I need a better rear storage solution pretty bad.
