Been a busy past couple weeks with the LC. Installed BIOR rear with ladder, fuel and tire carrier. Additionally installed a 3' firestik (4' won't fit in my garage) bike rack on the spare which took a little modification to the mounting plate. Also not pictured is the new DT cat-back exhaust. The fact that it's not pictured is one of my favorite qualities about it :)

To anyone doubting the strength of the spindles Mike at BIOR uses, these pictures should assure you. There is a little flex in the bumper (as is expected with most metals and increases strength), but none from the spindle. It looks as if the entire rear bumper would come off before the spindle when you push down on it. Definitely a strong design. I'm curious how the Yakima Sparetime will hold up to off-road use as pretty much every rack I could find advises against it (probably as a liability measure. Very happy overall.

For those trying to run a wire to the roof in a clean and secure way, 1/2" wire loom tucks in nicely between the pillar and windshield

Hey Mechanix,

I have the same bumper and used the Thule version of the tire mount. Heading out this week to Canyonlands for a test, as well. One thing I have decided to do to alleviate the added weight to the tire swing out, is run a strap from the top of the bike mount to the roof rack, I will snap a pic on Wednesday when all loaded up.

Nothing too extreme, but I finally got around to washing my LC for the first time since owning it for a month! :D I also put on a CB antenna mount from Gamiviti with a 3' whip, put in some Weather Tech digital fit liners, put on Rain X Latitudes all around, took off the MegaWarrior in anticipation of a new rack and changed some fluids. It was a great weekend to be outside working!

I'd be interested to see that. There is a little flex, like I said mostly with the rack itself and I figure this is normal but it might be concerning for off-road use. I thought about reinforcing it as well.

is there really a need as his swingouts rest on the plastic wedge where they latch so no matter how much weight is on swingouts when open...when closed they will bottom out with anything more than a 1/16 inch of flex...especially if you adjust the hasp to pull them down and make them rattle free on the trails like I do.

Or you talking about the bike rack itself flexing and worrying it wont hold up to dropping off a 2 foot ledge hard...haha :)

Mechanix, where did you pick up the reflective strips for your rear bumper. I like them, curious if they would fit well on my Slee rear?!

More concerned about the rack as it explicitly states in the instructions "not for off-road use" We'll see about that. I think I'll fab up a plate that goes between the main post and rack assembly of the yakima that has like a loop on it to connect a rachet strap to the roof rack. Just for wheeling though. The swingout itself is solid.

Picked up a role of them from harbor freight for like $3.00. Seem pretty tough so far. Time will tell how they hold up.

pics, folks, pics... let's not get too much into tech discussions here, better places for that. thanks.

Big Dog Offroad Fall Crawl 2012

Definitely a poser shot, but hopefully worth posting. This was this past weekend at Big Dog Offroad Fall Crawl 2012 at Gore, VA, http://www.bigdogsoffroad.com/html/fall_crawl.html
Running boards are off BFGs and Sliders are going to be ordered soon. Maybe I can actually go on some of the trails next time.

We planned a family solo run for a few days and then catching up with the group in Devil's Kitchen but we got a later start than originally anticipated, so we decided to stay more local Moab vs. the long haul to the Maze District.

All in all it was a great family trip and hoping we can return again once more in 2012...

Checked in with our desert expert in Eagle..

No wheeling. Just nice sunrise that made the truck look better than it actually does.
