Well... not at all ! No extra fuel and no other type of comms aside of my CB

My 100 is a HDJ100. Round trip of the Trans-Taiga is 833 miles and the consumption with tire at 25psi was 15.7 MPS (US). I have a theorical autonomy of 393 miles on dirt road with tires at 25psi.

I usually get close to 17.5+ full load (7425#) in normal condition.

I informed myself and did my research before embarking on this road. There is one Fishing and Hunting Outfitter right in the middle and another at the very end. I was able to refuel with diesel in both location though it was colored diesel (heating oil) at the end ! And it was pricy !!

... we did not encounter a single humain on a distance of 310 miles ! If I had to do it again, I'll certainly bring a sat phone.

Is HDJ100 available in canada? or allowed to import?
Btw, my ausi and asian friends complain HDJ100 as thirsty beast

Actually, I’m the owner of this 100 : HDJ100 swap

On highway, 60mph, 2000rpm, I can get 19.6mpg but, as I wrote, usually around the 17.5+mpg mix driving, which is pretty good for a such heavy beast !

They are thirsty definitely. My tank gets low real quick around town. The reason I dropped from 50W/20 to 40W/15 mineral was to lower the resistance a bit. Might go to synthetic 40W/15 next.
I have bigger tyres now too. Aero dynamic factor is huge as I noticed installing a steel full roof rack dramatically effected fuel economy. My next thing will be to get rid of the heavy roof rack and go for a flat aluminium rack. Should be a lot better than the current steel one its huge and heavy as hell

Got married:)

Just move to Canada with the truck, you get an automatic 20% increase in mpg... :)

(but let's save a further discussion of mpgs for a tech thread, eh...)

I've got a pretty unimpressive one of those... Looked even less impressive if you'd seen my dad's long travel TJ on the same rock right before 😐

Yeah but you're comparing a full size luxury SUV to a tiny rock crawling toy. Jeeps are so cheap to buy and build I am surprised some people here are trying to turn their 7,000 monster Land Cruiser to compete with them as opposed to just buying a TJ/JK as a side toy which is the right vehicle for rocks to begin with.

IDK much about Jeeps but I'd brobably just buy something like this for rocks:

I know people here have WAY more than $20k invested in their 100s so this seems like a no brainer if you're trying to do technical trails (which I would not recommend on a 100 series.

Interestingly, my dad built his Jeep (WAY more than $20k into it) for very long, 'overlanding' type trips (before there was instagram, over a decade ago). I personally really love the technical trails and the prowess of a well-articulated vehicle as that's what I learned to wheel in. So, we each have probably the other's ideal vehicle for our preferred purposes, but neither of us would swap vehicles if offered.

Quick 24 hour getaway to Cape Lookout with the wifey. Amazing place. Saw a sweet 100 series nicely done up on our way back, but unfortunately for the most part it was a bunch of Karen-faced Jeeps on the beach..

How big of a spacers are you running?

@dsalni very dramatic pics.. love it

was there any fitment issues with the ARB bumper and the 470 grill?

You'll need to cut/grind off the two upper light/antennae tabs on the bar of the bumper for the grill to clear. The 2 lower tabs are fine; I used one to mount my winch control box.
