What insurance do you have?
Farmers Insurance. I replaced 3 different windshields through them already. 2 times on 100 and once on my Lexus ISF. Probably add up to 5.8k total. Haha, I'm getting my money's worth in premium that's for sure.

Quick 2 day camping trip through The Swell. Reinstalled the 8th seat and brought “Grammy” along. We hit Buckhorn Wash pictograph panel, swinging bridge, The Wedge, Hamburger Rock, “little” Goblin Valley, and Jurassic National Monument. Cooling off in Huntington Lake before heading home. #1/2

Hit some sand last week. An unusual event for a Colorado family. After seeing those MaxTrax very brightly show up in every photo I'm wondering if black would have been a more reasonable choice.

Solution?

Meh, then I miss out on the super-cool spring-loaded mounting pins. Plus... I don't hate the orange enough to spend $150 to cover it up.

It might end up on the roof rack, but then that eats into my solar panel area and vertical clearance.

First world problems.

A lot of my backpacking/adventure gear is some form of orange/red. From a visual standpoint, I figure it's easier to spot during a rescue, but i'm probably being neurotic.

I even have orange crocs for campsite shoes hahaha.

That is why I got orange. I'd probably do it again, but it's definitely louder than I was anticipating.

The orange started fading from my Gazelle tent bag within a week in the AZ sun...here’s after one year+ and about 9 weeks of exposure during camping, and the first time on the roof.

In the case of the MaxxTrax themselves, they’ll be easier to find in the mud or dirt or whatever after you’ve actually used them. That isn’t terribly neurotic.

Need more info on this! Can you link what you installed and show an angle at the back of the truck with the swing out closed? I tried a OneUp rack and it did not work well with the Dissent rear.
This is a good thread to check out:

Mine is a Saris freedom spare tire tray rack. You can actually offset the tray right or left... super cool.

It’s off the truck right now but will snap a pick next time.

HTH 🍻

Cracked my windshield again! Thank god for my insurance, they cover OEM glass. The dealer invoiced 1.8k for this job! Jesus!

How's the interior noise? Any wind noises from install?

@KraziAzn What insurance company you have?

I know many of them dont cover the windshield specifically on the west coast.
