I have a pair of those newer mechanisms already. I am not impressed with the what the handle lever is attached to the plate. It has a lot slip in it, which is why I kept the early set up. Locking set up on the newer style is better though.

If my fix does not work I may consider.

Yeah, it would be really nice if someone would machine them out of aluminum.
