Do you want to be able to monitor over wifi or just record? A good deer camera can record still images and is motion activated. But you'll have to pull the SD card out to view the images.
If you want live monitoring capability, there are many wifi cameras that will let you do that over your iPhone. If you want them to record what they capture, you basically are buying a DVR. The more cameras connected to the DVR, the smaller the resolution of each feed. Even one that has 2-4 cameras attached will usually only record 3-6 days before it starts writing over the oldest recorded sessions.

I didnt know that.
I looked at game cameras but they arent much cheaper than some of the DVR systems I saw.
I want a high enough quality to at least be able to identify a vehicle, I'd rather be able to read a license plate.
enough quality to ID someone is goal, but I dont know if I can expect that resolution from equipment in my price range.
monitoring over my phone/internet would be cool, but not necessary.

The highest resolution on that system is 704 x 480, which is not enough to see a license plate or clear facial features. It's frustrating because the technology seems so simple by other A/V standards (phones/tablets/PC's), but it gets real expensive real quick for quality camera/recording equipment.
Seems like you could convert a home PC with a TB drive into your own security DVR using Media Center or some off the shelf software and a couple of webcams. Night recording might be trickier with a webcam.

Nice, those are awesome.
I always enjoy seeing really exquisitely executed photos from way back in the day. It amazes me the light people were able to produce with fairly rudimentary (by today's standards) lighting equipment.
Much more badassery involved. The ISO of the film was in the 25-64 range, so it took a LOT of light to get exposures quick enough to freeze motion.

someone posted the article on FB, it passively mentioned the ram v6 diesel, that was the first I heard anything about it.
I am reading now and see that the v6 diesel announcement came in Feb. Obviously I am late to the party.
