Since there seem to be several folks who have either worked in outdoor gear stores or been into camping and what not. I ask this question.

What's a good tent to get, 4 person, weight no concern, under $300. Camping year round in AL.

Is a Mountainsmith Genesee any good? I have an old Mountainsmith pack that's built like a brick s***house. Have they sold out like TNF?

Sent via carrier pigeons to a computer near you using the ih8mud app.

Watch Matt hold on for dear life at 3:00. Oh wait... never mind... he was holding the TC shifter on dig.

It's a good bit steeper than the video makes it look, and the transition on to the rocks up where I got stuck was rutted out bad by the time I got there... not that I helped it any. ;)

I have never seen a mountainsmith tent before, but their bags and packs come up on steepandcheap pretty often.

the clymb has tents on sale now.

I saw lots of Eureka tents at philmont, Kait and I both have Eureka sleeping bags and are happy with them. When they were new they won a lot of awards for being high quality and low price.
If I get back into backpacking I'll get a new bag only because my Eureka is light, but it doesnt compress small enough, I do have a 15* bag though, Kaits 45* is 1/3 as big as mine.

I have an alps mountaineering tent. I cant find the receipt but I dont think it was much more than 100 dollars. 300 should get you a very nice tent, unless you get stuck paying full retail, which is relatively easy to avoid.

http://www.e-omc.com/ was where I used to get some stuff from because they had good sales. Their site isnt loading for me at the moment.

http://www.campsaver.com/big-agnes-big-house-4-clearance?gclid=CIvFic2MsrkCFRPl7AodBFEADQ I love my BA ground pad, I will probably get their sleeping bag as my next purchase because the two are designed to work together and I have been happy with their quality.

you will have to sign up for the clymb its free, http://www.theclymb.com/invite-from/zrheard

steepandcheap actually has my tent for sale right now. http://www.steepandcheap.com/steepcheap/gear-cache-item/727961 thats the updated version, mine has the fly pole in a different location, but it is very easy to set up and I have been happy with it.

I'm pretty strongly considering going with one of the Alps "outfitter" line. Either the Extreme 3 or the Taurus 4.

long story short, I need to learn how to fix a crack in a franklin stove.....

Finally finishing the floor hatch to the basement in our laundry room. We added on to the house a few years ago and covered over the cellar door. I thought at the time that a floor hatch would be a simple solution...not so much.

Have you got a hydraulic cylinder on it, or a spring or something, to keep it from claiming someone's digits?

I say no latch, leave it stealth. Man points for having a secret trap door in your house.

hydraulic cylinder - just one for now but I have another that I need to install for back up purposes. One will hold it, two will probably lift it like a hatchback. without the flooring on it it would shoot up with just one cylinder once you lifted it about an inch.

I would leave it stealth but there is really no way to lift it. It is also a little bit off so it sits higher on one corner. A latch will allow me to lock it down perfectly flat.

throw a flash bang as a diversion and - he's gone
