One from the back.

Need to have several loads of gravel brought in to build up the end and the back. Biggest thing other than skinning the walls is to get the lean-to framed out and get the roof on it.

Lots still to do, but all in all, it was a good day.

Nice work, Dude! Where are you sourcing your wood for that large of a project? You getting a bulk deal somewhere?

Cheers

Thanks Joel. We got a building package, so it all came on a big truck.

And unloaded

It's pretty slick. Pretty much everything is in those piles except the concrete. All the metal, lumber, trusses, even doors, nails and hardware. I ended up using all screws so I have about 40 lbs of nails for a rainy day.

I went out tonight to cover some stuff up since they are calling for some rain tomorrow night and Thursday. While I was there I went ahead and made sure the 4Runner would fit.

I think I'm good. :D

Looking good, but you will be surprised how fast all that room disappears.

Yeah, I'm worried about that. We are going to use it to store stuff while the house is on the market. I just hope I can get it all out once we get the house out there. Matter of fact it has already started. Erin has already got a few things stashed in the corner.

AMEN ...it fills up fast . Going to put second floor in mine for storing crap .

How big is your shop Rocky?

Matt which company did you buy your shop from?

@htburnett

We ended up getting our package from http://www.thepolebarncompany.com/

We shopped around and tried to call some local folks and at the time didn't have alot of luck and we had been looking on that site alot to get ideas and such so we just went ahead and pulled the trigger with them. I have learned a little and if I had it to do again I would call down to Watson Metals in Manchester, TN to get a quote to compare to anything I found online. I think there is a Watson Metals in Cookeville that I would probably suggest that you talk to. I know that a guy I work with had a 40x60 barn with two 12' lean-twos on each side quoted and when he showed me the price I think he may have gotten a little better deal.

There may be some other places that could give you a quote, but those are the two that I can speak to.

What size you thinking about?

I think I want a 35 long by 25 wide. Im wanting to build a little bigger than I want at first because all the barns and out buildings here at the farm will probably fall down in the next five years. I think the newest building here was started right before my great grandpa left for WWII.

Go with whatever you can. I had something a good bit larger in mind but when I started looking at the cost and logistics of what I wanted, I decided this was a good jumping off point. I purposefully kept the ceilings low so as to not temp the lift fates in this one too (although the bendpak xpr-9 will fit :hillbilly:)

Looking forward to seeing how yours comes along.

It might take a while on mine. Im trying to source different parts as I can. I picked up 2 free pretty nice window garage doors the other day that I'm going to make into one big one for the front. Also I plane on using cedar post from the farm for the poles. It may not be exactly square  but hopefully it will work for what I want.

It's 24x32 with 15 foot walls . Hoping to have a lift in it this summer .

What brand you looking at? And are you having it installed by someone? I'm kinda curious about that process.

I would not spend all the time and money on a building and support it on poles. The barn behind my house was built with cedar poles 10-12 years ago and several need to be replaced.

Today was a good day. Got the roof all buttoned up. So we are protected from the straight down rain, but still git a good bit of trim work to do and the wall metal.

Tomorrow I would like to get the overhead doors trimmed out and perhaps work on some additional bracing.

I got 3 on this post, don't want to tempt fate. I will put a couple more up in a few.

Everyone looks wore out in the last picture.

Everyone looks wore out in the last picture.

They were. Erin crashed at like 7:30 last night.

I got down today and got the headers up and worked on framing in the overhead doors. We also took Scrappy down to get him out of the yard. Only picture I snagged, you can see the door headers, scrappy and his pee pad I put down for him.

Also, his battery is shot, so I will have to pick up a new one sometime soon.

If I can get the rest of the door trimmed in then I'm probably going to see about getting the doors hung, then trimming the eaves out and then start skinning it. Also in that mix will be getting the lean-to framing underway.
