Did anyone local buy this rig? I saw it in a driveway 2 blocks over from me. Just wondering if they were on the board already.

if it came out of a Tundra, it will be the 4.7. If it is truly a 4.3, its out of a Lexus GS/LS 430. just sayin'

Way more project then I could handle but would be sweet in my FJ45. I've had the 4.7s in Toyotas for over fifteen years now. 110K mile it's barely broken in. Besides just too much project it's missing a key element, the 4X4 T case. Probably requires a different automatic transmission to add one. Then the front diff would be on the wrong side and need a centered diff rear axle. Do they make a adapter for the 4.7 to a H55F five speed?

Run a 100 series trans and tcase. Problem solved

The 100 series transmission/transfer case still requires a centered rear diff. Already have a 4X series full floater rear axle I plan on using. Not sure about the which side the front comes is on. While would require a little work the front could be switched to the other side. Would still have to source a good 100 series T/T which is not near as easy as finding one from Tundra/Sequoia/4Runner in the US market. If funds were unlimited would be a different matter. Think I'll wait until I win the lottery.

100 series rear diff is not centered it's offset to the passenger like the 80.

Got me, seven years of owning a 100 series never paid that close attention to it. I worked on and spent more time under my 3rd generation 4Runner in the little over the year I've had it. 100 series was always just a DD and did nothing more then drive it on mild forest service roads. Looking at a parts break down it looks like the Transfer case looks like if set up like older LCs. What may have also thrown me off is because of the width the diff doesn't look as off set as a 40 series. Does make this a more interesting option. The LC was the last of four Toyotas that had the 4.7. Maybe I should take a closer look at my wife's 04 Runner with the 4.7. Believe it's has a centered rear axle but who know. Please don't tell me the Tundra rear axle is offset. Owned a couple of those and did spend some time underneath looking at putting in a Eaton limited slip.
Is this the only BJ44 in the USA? Would love to see it in person.

I almost wish I wasn't so set on getting an 80. When I still wasn't totally sure there were a bunch for sale that I liked. Now that I'm 95% sure I want one I haven't seen one that interested me in like 3 months. I have a good enough budget that I can be picky and get a clean one but not much local for sale lately. Money to spend and none that interest me for sale!
Not sure how clean you want. I can be convinced to sell mine with good money.

Looking for something pretty clean well looked after with low miles 150k ish or less and at least some service history. Stock is fine to build off of for me but any good mods are a bonus. E-locks a must. No rust a must.
Prefer:

Plan is to baseline truck. Lift with 35's, add some armor/winch compressor etc and do some wheeling. Will not be a DD.
Anyone runs across something great let me know!

Not bad. Is that dark blue or green? Hard to tell in that pic. Miles on the rest of the truck are higher than what I am looking for and trying to avoid a tan interior but otherwise looks pretty good. List looks like like you maintain it well. Could you PM me a rough idea what you are looking to get for it?
I am going to keep looking for something closer to what I want but I will definitely keep this one under consideration.
