Wicked Pissah Cruisah Haulah a NLC.
So many of you know that Brianna and I are heading out in a few weeks to do a 2 week road trip through Quebec into Labrador via the Trans Labrador Highway and ferrying off to Newfoundland for a stay at a Provincial park and then drive straight across the Island to St. John's for a few days. From there we will head out to Nova Scotia and eventually head back home through Maine.
We will be taking the Lexus and towing our stout little camping trailer behind us for the adventure. When all is said and done we will travel about four thousand miles through some of the more remote areas of Canada.
We are very excited to do such and have prepared pretty well for the trip.
Special thanks to Rick for the last month of schooling me on everything Landcruiser. I feel pretty confident now on how to make repairs roadside and have a really good sense of how it all works and have acquired the tools needed to do such.
A month ago I really had no confidence on how to wrench on these things. Thanks again Rick.
Things are crazy busy for me at the moment. Some of you know that during the summer I work about 14 hours a day during the week. From time to time we have special events at my work that can add another 12-14 hours over the weekend. I have a two hour daily commute. If you do the math on that you will figure out quickly that there's pretty much no time in between.
On the weekends I have been working on my truck with Rick and getting a better understanding of how all the mechanics work on the vehicle. Between rebuilding the entire brake system and replacing all the wheel bearings, I put in roughly 13 hours in the LandTank healing bay on one day alone.
When not working on the truck, Brianna and I have been preparing the trailer and our gear since for the majority of the time we will be camping with the exception of a nights stay on one of the Ferry rides.
The planning and prepping for the trip has been fun but has also been a huge amount of work.
Add to that the quickly approaching Fall Gathering....eek!
I just wanted to let folks know what we have been up to. I know some of you have asked club related questions over the last few weeks and if I have been slow to respond I hope this gives you a small insight to why.
I try to be as quick as possible with the club stuff but at the moment this is important to me and I am more than confident that our VP is up to the task of shouldering the load while I am away.
The Fall Gathering is still well on track and we hope to have our registration live in the next week or so.
Our sponsorship looks good and everything seems pretty positive so far.
We will obviously still need some volunteers and I will be starting that thread in the next few days.

Bob- have a great trip and thanks for all you do for our club. I know how hard it is to find time... just wait till you add kids into the mix! If you see any decent HJ60's in your travels keep me in mind. Even a nice 5 speed BJ would do... HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!

I think my big adventure for this year is going to be a couple days in the Adirondacks and then a day or two in Montreal and back through VT. Just drove the 80 for the first time in months... well after charging the battery and fixing a stuck caliper. Should be ready for the trip now though.

Anyone do side work willing to install a lift kit on my fj62? I don't have time to do it before 8/24 and I want to go to Raush Creek that weekend.
Lots of good guys here on the board. Mike Fox (RI), Wally (VT) and Kina (NH). I'm not sure that Rick (MA) would want to touch something with leaf springs, he is more of an 80 guy. Where are you located? What parts have you gotten for the lift (size, brand, new/used)? Springs, shackles, shocks, u-bolts, extended brake lines, bushings?
One thing I noticed is that gas was coming out after the flop, so how do keep this from happening? Kina? N8?

You don't need a fuel cell but you do need a check valve and a big vent tube routed in a large upside down U shape.
