I think while a steep price I appreciate what they have built and obviously answered a market demmand. I prefer the craftsman ship and finish of the icon over some of the lame colored custom paint jobbed cruisers out there. and while the 2f is a decent engine and what I run in my lv lets face it it can't can't get out of its own way in any sort of city/highway driving. and while we would all love to have that 200 acers on the side of the mountain to run our cruisers the reality is most of us have to use them for some sort of daily/weekly use. the 2f can barely tow its own weight 350 was a smart choice

Passed a TLC Icon FJ40 today in Needham on the way to work. Sounded like it had the RamJet 350. Beautiful truck.

to bad there is not much if any Toyota parts in those:frown:

well my personal opinion is that I am fully behind a company that is tring to put a new fj40 type landcruiser on the road. while I love the engine and drive line on the 80 series, hell I had pretty much the whole drive line in my fj62, I think the body is completely lacking. if you guys are guna completely bash the icon as a cruiser than for me you got to bash the 80 for loosing all of the cruiser lines. you can say it was due to modernization but then why can you still get a jeep that look like a jeep but the landcruiser looks like a bubble. i wouldn't be so adiment about the icon's defense but you all did trash it worse then I feel it deserves.

i believe that the tuck would be a lot cooler if it had Toyota axles out of an 80 series, coil sprung, and a 70 series drive train im talkin about the 1HD-FTE turbo charged diesel yahh babe:cool: and im sure all this could be done for there asking price of 153k, there is just no need for GM junk in a landcruiser im my honest opinion:D

My commentary isn't bashing as much as I'm wondering why buy a truck that is a copy for double the price of a mint condition original? Makes zero sense.

Got the ebrake adjusted on the Cruiser. No luck pulling ECU codess... not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Washed both cars inside and out.

Did a TON of yardwork, nearly done with that and I suspect I will be very sore tomorrow but it's great exercise and had to be done.

3 day work week this week. Spending 3 days at my buddy's place in Matapoisett over next weekend. It's a rental right on the Bay and since they just bought another house in town it will be our last hurrah in that fabulous location. HUGE deck facing the water... many lite beers will be consumed.

alot more goes into a car/cruiser than the suspension and drive train. when your 80's are 40+ years old you too will support a vender who is building NEW frames, gaskets, and alot of the other odds and ends that you can't get anywhere in near mint condition much less new. if it were not for this icon product there would not have been the push to make OEM replica's of 'steel' body panels. instead in 10 years when the last of the original body's rusted out most would be opting for aluminum tubs.

i am not saying I like the drive line choices but a hole lot of good came to the cruiser community due to this project.

I remember the original TLC ICON articles. Seems they really wanted to use more Toyota components but wanted to use all NEW stuff and Toyota simply wouldn't supply them with what they wanted/needed. At least that is my recollection.

The thing about the ICON is it's not meant for "us" it's meant for the same guys who spend $200k on a resorted muscle car at Barrett-Jackson. Guys with gobs of expendable income who want a "brand new classic" with no hassles. TO them, $100k is nothing, they spend that on their daily drivers (top of the line AMG Benz for instance).

Definitely but If I had insane cash, I would get an original restored to new which would be a "brand new classic." maybe that's just me. Writing a huge check to get a reproduction cruiser sucks the soul out of the entire purpose of owning a cruiser. I find them highly disgusting. Vile even.

Lost my wallet yesterday. Went everywhere and can't find it. Think I dropped it in a parking lot near my house. Hope people are honest still. My license had my old address on the front so hopefully they'll look on the back for the new one.

Heading to VT now with no $$$. Probably good since Wally lives in VT.
