Spent the lat 2 days in all-company meeting, reviewing a rough 2008 and prepping for a rough 2009. My big news was premiering the badly needed new web site I've been designing and developing with the engineering team. Overall response was fantastic and we are hoping to have phase 1 online in 30-60 days.

Then we had a big party at the bosses house last night. Good times. :)

Fun site for fans of Shepard Fairey and the now ubiquitous Obama/Hope poster style.

We did this on Friday for our department. Such a waste of time. They were streching to find goals for next year. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Had today off once again had to clear snow from the driveway.
I've been building a big pile in the back yard with it.
One of my weird interests if Bushcraft/primative living skills.
The pile will turn into a Quinzee for backyard winter sleeping.
Ian and I have built several of these and its pretty amazing that it will
be below 0 outside and 30 degrees in one of these. When I get it hollowed out
it should be big enough for 4, almost high enough to stand in.
Yea, I'm a little strange!
Next month we are planning a Full Moon snowshoe and Cast Iron cook-out
and bon-fire.

Now on to Cruiser stuff.
One more piece to go and I'll have the FJ60 steering
all finished. Still have to come up with a way to connect the relay rod to the
pitman arm. Thoughts so far are,
1, weld the hole up on the pitman arm and have the machine shop ream it to
fit the 40 series TRE.
2, Get a 60 series piece that fits the pitman arm and figure a way to make it
fit the Relay rod. (could probably send both ends to BudBuilt and have him make
me up a custom relay rod.
3, Heim joint.

I'm kinda thinking #2 is the right way to go. Thoughts?

So I finished up the steering shaft today. Cut the 60 slip shaft in half and welded
one end into the u-joint near the firewall. Have an 11 inch tube cut and slid both ends into.
Both ends are welded and I also drilled 4, 3/8" holes in the tube and hit those with the MIG.
Have just enough room with the splined slip joint to be able to get the shaft off.
I cut the old steering shaft off with about 6" left coming thru the firewall. Picked up
a greasable pillow block bearing online for about $15 shipped.
The U-joint came from the local auto parts store and was $38. It's a PTO piece out of a farm catalog.
To connect the intermediate shaft to the steering column it's keyed. I bought a long
key, put it in the u-joint and slipped it on. The was one inch hanging out the back which I clamped down
and tacked to the shaft. Pulled the u-joint off and tacked the front on then went back and layed a
bead on both sides of the key.
Marked the spot where the set screw was, drilled a hole for it to seat in then slipped everything
together.
I'll pick up some fluid tomorrow and see if the box works. Everything turns like it should right now.

Lane that steering shaft looks offly like a jeep drive shaft:D
looks like you have some great winter projects going on

those snow forts are awesome, a few years ago my friend mike and i snow blowed his whole back yard into a giant pile and hollowed it out. The great things about those shelters is its very easy to keep your beer cold just stuff it into the wall

Old Toyota tie-rod! No Jeep stuff here!

Got my refi underway tonight, going to save a bit each month, and consolidate some other things. Now I just want to see the rate dip a bit more in teh next 20-30 days. :)

I met with my mortgage guy on Sunday. We're refinancing too at 5% for a 30 year fixed. Can't expect much better. A drop to 4.75% would be nice!!

Serious question....am I stupid to buy a BJ70 as a daily driver??

I am bustin butt on the house to get it ready for the refi, we want to consolidate some cc debt and put some money away for vaca next year ;)
