brought over the head to the machine shop today to have the valve grind done and intakes cleaned should have it by Thursday then the wrenching begins

Here are some pics of Nat's engine in it's current state. Considering it's age it's in very good condition. And once put back together it should live a long and productive life.

Heh, more like the wrecking begins.

Nate and I did some reseach while Nat was over in the corner being short. We found that the 1FZ-FE head

rear left water galley on the #2 cylinder holds $.26 if you use pennies
rear front water galley on the #5 cylinder holds $.15 in nickles
every oil passage except those on the #6 will hold $.50 in quarters if you roll them right.

It takes 4.5 sticks of hot glue to fit two boxes worth of M5 nyloc nuts to the crank.

What shop are you using?

Thanks

a guy that works out his garage called lundun machine. guys name is Jack he owns the shop and has been working on engines since his pre teens i think he is in his late 60 so he knows his stuff
he did a port and polish for us on another 80, does some amazing work

Had a ton of cruiser time the last couple days. Got the undercoating finished, installed the Ruff Stuff battery box, went to Long Island and got a 60/40 front bench seat, installed the stereo speakers in the door panels, picked up rear jump seats from Randy....

More fun stuff for the rest of the week. Not having baseball wines to deal with is great! Plenty of garage time!!

You going to mount those jump seats facing forward? I wouldn't put them any other way if you plan to drive with kids back there...just my .02. Either that, or get another bench seat for the back.

Gonna get another bench for the back and leave the mounting brackets so I can pop it on anytime quickly. Wont be using it for the family that often. True on the jumpseats. dangerous stuff!!

I know where you can get an lv front bench seat with an SOR tough duck seat cover...
drove off my island in the lv for the first time. it did alright ont he bridge.

Thanks for the info. Hope it goes back together as fast as it stripped down. You guy's must be getting good and fast at replacing 1fz-fe headgaskets.

Anyone have an antenna that will fit a 1983 HJ47?? Need one for this week for stereo install

4Runner is driving me crazy. In November, it left my wife stranded at work because it wouldn't start (solenoid click). I immediately diagnosed it as a bad starter and replaced it. Everything is good until two days ago when I am stranded at work...again because it wouldn't start. Found the positive battery cable lead clamp was broken, so not good contact. I replaced that. Today...the 4runner wont start. No idea yet, the engine turns over, but not firing. :bang:

you start with the easy first, efi fuse
im chasing electrical gremlins in my to not fun 4runner

I picked mine up from the shop last night.
Broken wire to the cold start sensor, clogged fuel
filter, new fuel pump. All stuff I could have fixed but
had no desire to while laying in the cold driveway.
