Unfortunately a good friend lost his battle with cancer alittle less then a year ago. He was a huge early Mustang fan and had accumulated a large stash of parts and several cars. Last time I saw him, he asked me to restore a 1968 Mustang for his widow. He had set aside money and had alot of the parts. There's alot more to the story, but that's for another day.

In the meantime, I have started on the 1968. It's basically getting a full resto or kind of a restomod build. It will be Acapulco blue with white stripes and a black interior. It's also being upgraded to a later model 5.0 HO roller motor, overdrive transmission, disc brakes and air conditioning.

Here's the progress so far......

At this point, I am removing everything suspension and brake wise. Then will clean, repaint, undercoat the chassis, and start bolting on the new goodies.

Started checking out the motor for this 68. It actually came with another car my buddy bought, but he wanted it in this car. It appears to be a 5.0 HO roller motor. I gotta check numbers to verify. It's brand spanking new. Has a nice aftermarket accessory drive too.
I plan to remove a few things and paint it the era correct color.

Removed the rear axle and all associated bits. Got 1" drop springs to match the already purchased front drop springs. Gonna clean, inspect, and reseal the rear end. New brakelines and brakes too.

Got the rear end all taken apart, cleaned up, and some parts are painted. It's a super highway gear 2.80 8 inch. It will be fine for this build though.
Also got the new rear suspension parts. Springs look good.

Not necessarily for this 68 Mustang, but I had this Holley rebuilt. It turned out great. Hopefully it runs as good as it looks. This is for the 1969 that I inherited as part of this situation.
