Almost everyone said to buy 3.5 or 3.75 backspace. If you run a 15x10 wheel. That is incorrect. 4 inch is perfect (see Photos). No BLING but they are cheap and steel. American Racing AR-767. Troy

Not even close to rubbing ???

Width looks good to me too 8)

What size are those MTR's?

35's?

Uhhh, maybe if you modified hysteer arms on your SOA - see pic #2. With stock steering arms, the rim would be firmly clamped against the tie rod end with 4" backspacing. Also are you referring to offset or backspacing? The two terms are sometimes used interchangeably but actually different measurements.

im running a 15x8 inch rim with 2.5 back spacing and it handles sooooo much better.. the stance is much wider and better for controling a huge mother of a truck so high up :)

Uhhhh. Those are stock steering arms. This thread is for SOA wagons. If you are SOA you must modify the steering arms. Mine are heated, bent, and slow cooled. I bent them up not inward. My tires are 35x12.50x15. At $59.95 a wheel I think it's a good choice.

I'm thinking you might have SOA envy :D

Lowtide, do you have a good strait on photo to post? I think with an 8 inch wide 2.5 back space you will be 1/2 inch different in width than I with the 4 inch back space on 10 inch width.

i think my rig handles better now than before the spring over on the road....and WAY better off road...

the first two days i had the new rims and wheels i was pulling into my garage and not paying any attention and ran into the side of it with my tire...waaahoooppsss haha no damage done :) just laughing at myself

That 2.5 back space looks nice and wide. I think you are exactly 1/2 wider than I am. Troy

welll hmmm..i think i got ya by bit more than that...my tire sticks out past the wheel well by about 2.5-3inches..for my stock rims and the 31s ive gained 5inchs on my stance with my current set up of 35s x12.5s on 15x8 inch rim and 2.5 back spacing...if ya really want to figure it out...your 10inch rim will give you an extra inch than from an 8 inch rim then take away .25 because you moved from stock of 3.75 to 4 then add tire size, subtacted from my set up bbeeblaablooblaaa...good thing is they both work and i live in a state that allows tires to stick out past the fenders...anyway your truck looks good but i think i need to see some trail pics :)

I'll snap a photo of the front end strait on tonight or tomorrow and take a measurement. My tires outside edge looks almost identical to where yours is. :beer:Troy

Ahhh. Stock steering arms that aren't stock because they've been modified. I get it. BTW I've seen SOAs that leave the tierod below the springs and use "stock" steering arms. I know, its a lame way to do it but it can work.

knuckle arms? i think even if ya left the drag link below the spring packs you would still have to ride a double kunckle arm on the pass side....????.....

The wheels I have are a 3.5" back spacing . That is TO INSIDE the body for me. I bought some 1.5" billets to get her a little wider.

Troy-your truck looks great. Your steering arms, however, look reversed right to left. Obviously it works for you, but 4 inches is not the correct backspace number for most 60's. Now reversing the steering arms and bending them like that looks like it works well. Who bent them for you? Any trouble with the "Ackerman" angle when steering? Also wondering if you had to change the length of the tie rod. You have a good clean look, are you going to wheel it at Rubithon in 3 weeks?

I'm not ready for Rubithon yet. I still have a few more mods to make. I am a local so if you guys need any local support for the trip, let me know. I may be able to run some parts or locate parts. My wife runs a tire shop in Gardnerville if anyone needs anything after the trip.

Me and a friend did the steering last year. Previous owner had a large metal plate welded to a cut in half drag link. We heated, bent, and slow cooled the knuckles. All of the steering arms and drag link are custom length. Everything was set with a tape measure. My tires wear great and I haven't had an allignment other than using the tape measure. I have about 5000 miles on it since I did the steering. It was all over the road before and now it drives nice and strait. Troy

Here is the front shot.

OK, these are 3.75" backspace 15x8 with BFG 35s with 1.25" spacers = 2.50" backspace. This should be the same as yours, Lowtide. Mine tuck in nicely.

gyp diggin the avatar and the cruiser.. yep looks close
