Wow, I hope you have the time to keep posting on your project. I love to see the 40 rise again.

Thank you! I'll let you know that my 15 year old is looking for an Fj-40 tub and frame as we speak. This motor will get another $2K spent on it and be a zero time F motor, still pushing lots of memories down the trail. I'm glad I could help and I look forward to showing you what this one will become.

cheers and beers!

I spent this morning cleaning a lot of things up and getting the firewall and front section of the frame ready for a coat of Zero Rust. Given that I have taken so much out of this thing already, I am VERY tempted to pull the tub off and do the frame and tub the right way.

I was reading a thread over on the main 40 tech section where a guy was using a couple engine stands to hold up the front and rear of his tub. My only concern is how I would go about lifting it off of the frame.

I am also currently limited on garage space so I might have to look into a storage unit.

Dude, ya DO have friends here in Chandler that can give you a hand. Could you just stand the tub or frame on end, or side for the frame, to make more working space? John

Trust me, if I do decide to do this, I will be asking/begging for help and will bribe with food and beer. :-)

The whole standing the tub on it's side is exactly what I am thinking of doing. It would allow me to clean everything up and then Zero Rust the entire bottom of the tub. After that, I could easily put it back on the frame which would be taken care of since the tub would be off. :-)

Even putting it on it's side, I need to clean out the other half of my garage to give me some room to do that.

I am taking a 5 day weekend next week and think I will spend at least a day going through the garage and making some room.
