I'm brand new here, been lurking for quite a while, but finally took the plunge and got a vehicle for daily driving, light trail use and family camping. We purchased a 2006 LX470 with 53,000 miles on it. So far, the only upgrade was putting on a set of 275/70R18 bfg a/t ko2's. Love them so far! The vehicle drives like a dream. Definitely an upgrade from the minivan we replaced. I've had dedicated trail rigs in the past, but never anything that has had to serve so many purposes. Definitely open to suggestions, but we aren't going over the top...at least not yet. I'm hoping for sliders, a rear swing out tire carrier/bumper and possibly a roof rack. I would LOVE a RTT, but not sure I can justify the expense just yet. It is my wife's daily driver and kid hauler, sticking with the AHC for now, thinking about Slee's override. Look forward to finally being a contributing member of this forum!

Nice rig Tyler - welcome to 'Mud.

Having you, yes. Keeping you...? Mmm.... Texas....? Not so sure...

:D

Truck is a beauty .. do your homework on the AHC - can be your best or worst modification. I love it.

Save the tire carrier / swingout for last - looks cool but super incovenient with kids and life in general. Count the number of times you open your rear hatch in an average week.

Great choice in tire. Enjoy.

Congrats on the purchase, that is really low miles. You may have to do the timing belt based on time and not mileage.

That was a question I did have...and I'd welcome any input. We will likely put 15-20K on it per year, but I was thinking of doing timing belt in the next couple months, just to be safe.

That's actually a great point. We do get in and out of the back on a fairly regular basis, and that will probably only continue to rise.

I had a 99 LC that lived most of its life in AZ. It that 58k miles when I bought it in 2007. I had the timing belt and water pump done and it was bad and never would of made it to 90k miles. Reason was the water pump was leaking and AZ weather is hard on rubber. But the plus side the bottom of that 99 looked new no rust.

Thanks for the input. I think it would be rather cheap "insurance". Maintenance that will have to be done down the road anyway, might as well get it out of the way, and ensure no issues with it in the near future. Thanks!

the 275/70R18 KO's for my 06 LX should be here tomorrow! Lots of life left in the AHC, I'm not sure I'd jump into the slee override unless you really need it.
