Testing of the carburetor secondary throttle valve

Half way through reading this I already suspected your secondary wasn't fully closed. That plays havoc with the idle. I was just telling a new customer in TX about this scenario yesterday.
 
I felt kind of stupid going over all we did to find out that the tab was bent up a tiny amount, thats what happens when you get two or three people working on the same project and the communications are bits and pieces but all was meant well, but yes that butterfly needs to be tightly closed without any seeping of air/vacuum and only opens at the proper preset settings. It can cause havoc.
