I'm not sure how many lighting nerds we have, but this might be interesting for someone 😄

Compared stock LX470 H1 projector (squirrel finder delete + clear lens + Hikari Future bulbs) with an Amazon special LED projector and a micro D2s with 5k bulbs. I was shocked how well this sub $100 led projector did. Didn't have huge width but man the hotspot is intense. It also fits Luke111s brackets so it will be a direct drop-in for the LX

First is Amazon LED on top vs LX on bottom

Second is micro d2s on top vs LX on bottom

Third has all three 👍🏻 led on top then d2s then LX

Camera exposure was locked for all so they are directly comparable.

These were the LED projectors, I'm sure they go by a bunch of different names and brands

I have the OEM TSX projectors in my LX, but the d2s 5.0 in my SC. The d2s, by comparison, is so much better than the (at this point) 20 year old Acura units. They're down right beautiful.

What was your thought in person comparing the LED to the d2s? I like the idea of using LED, but I think a really nice HID system is just so much more visually appealing (from outside looking at the car).

Well, I was going to go the D2S at first, but the led is tempting. Cheap, instant performance with no ballasts or extra harnesses. From outside the car I think they'll all look more or less identical.
However, longevity makes me unsure. Would suck to have to bake the whole headlight again when the led dies. Replacing just a hid bulb or ballast is comparatively much easier
