Once again Bill Gates messes everything up!! :whoops:

Oh yeah, and only 22.6 gallons for me. I must be a weenie!

I've also heard that running out of fuel with EFI was bad, in fact the dealer that sold my mom here '81 200SX warned her it would cost several hundred dollars to tow her car and fix (prime) it if she ran it out. I think that was addressed in later model cars.

I remember hearing something when I was a kid about how you shouldn't run out of gas in her EFI car because you had to have the fuel injectors primed if you went dry.

I've never forgotten that, but I've also never heard a shred of support for that warning.

My brother had an old chevy citation 7-8 yrs ago. When he ran it out of gas (weekly) he'd put a few gallons in & have to turn the key from the "on" to "off" position 4 or 5 times to prime it. It wouldn't start otherwise.

Today I got my full tank mileage to 333 and chickened out. It took only 22.8gallons so I guess I'm looking a wimp now.

I average 35 miles with the light on each week.
anywhere from 21.5 to 22.5 usually tops me off with 275 miles in between.

That's 65 MPH freeway driving, with lots of stop and go and the usual 70 mph cruise control for some of it.

I think my max is 23.7 gal. and 340 a tank on the 5 goin to Tahoe.

Anybody know about Hemp gas for this rig? OD i have to do a full diesel swap in order for that to happen?

I have yet to see this supposed "low fuel light". I doubt it's existance...

Since it doesnt show itself when I turn the key to accessories - how can I make sure it really works withour running out of gas? Is there a way to trigger it?

I typically run up to 310-330 miles per tankful, re-filling around 22 gallons...seems like most people here are also pulling around 15 mpg. I think I once went to 360, which I filled just over 24.5 gallons...close enough to dry for me!

As to the "running the dregs of the tank" worrywarts...I am happier knowing the last gallon of the tank is whatever sludge/crap the PO left me with...I KNOW I have 24+ gallons of good stuff in there when I fill up, regardless of the frequency.

Damn, you get 300 miles per tank? Luckyyyyy Even when I set the cruise at 65 for 4 hours I only get 250.

If I fill up when the light FIRST goes on I get just under 21 gallons showing my reserve is about 3.5 gallons. Is this in line with everyone else?

I am with Arya on this one. I rarely see much over 250 miles on a tank. If I am on the highway (not Interstate) I can manage up to 290 or 300 miles, but that is the exception. I am very Happy when I see 14.5 MPG, but that is very rare.

I just filled up with 21.02 gallons and travelled 344 miles. Little over 16 and a quarter per gallon, with 35 inch tires and 95% highway on that tank.:)

Stock gears, so I'm constantly at highway speeds but only turning 2200 -2400 RPM. Normal driving for my wife, 60% highway and 40% city usually yields about 15 mpg.

I wish I could remember the gas station that saved my ass twice! (:crybaby: ) on my way to and from Co last month. It's like an island unto itself in the middle of nowhere approx. 23.85 gallons away from the last stop. *gulp* I very nearly shat my drawers heading to Co thru Iowa when I happened upon it. I think it was Iowa .. or maybe early Nebraska. The trauma obviously wiped most the experience from my mind.:o Edge of nowhere Iowa and theres some lil asian guy workin the gas pumps/cash .. 5 foot nothing, with hair so greasy he had to be in video game withdrawals while on shift. Poor fella ..

Here's a visual of sorts ..

You know where you're scared s***less that you might run out of gas when your mouth goes completely dry, and you sit bolt upright and way forward in your seat. You grip the wheel and 10 and 2, and start mumbling prayers for forgiveness .. that if some higher power will save your sorry ass this time, you'll not repeat such stupidity! Then comes sadness .... then panic .. then on the cusp of that adrenaline rush comes a new wave of self depricative anger.

:D :D

TY - *Jerry can-less ............ obviously!*
